Hi guys,
I'm mostly new to the forum and absorbing everything I can. Unfortunately my financial situation is not where it needs to be in order to get the experience I need to learn this business and hopefully scale it up from there. So I have decided it would be best for me to try getting an IM job in the mean time to learn and make the most of my time. Any idea where I should go to do this? Some forum? Perhaps put a posting up? Right now I know my experience is limited but I really believe it is a matter of resource and not skill/talent for me. I am a quick learner with a passion for this type of work. Learning it from the inside while allowing me to earn some add'l income is a the best play for this point in my life.

Jeff,
Getting a "job" will only hinder your efforts to do this as a business for yourself. Trust me.
My advice would be to take create for yourself (based on your finances) a "monthly" budget. Read the case studies on this forum and start a new campaign that is extremely targeted and that you can fully focus on. Don't sell yourself short by looking for a job, unless your in need and can't pay your bills right now.
Just an observation and word of advice. Hope this helps man.
Thanks for the reply Adrian. While its certainly not to the point where I can't pay my bills right now my monthly budget would be so limited I am not sure it would be worth it. I am looking at around $300 a month which doesn't seem like much to sink into this. I do want to learn this business that I can eventually take over full time. Nobody starts as an expert so I am sure I have at least a few very rough months ahead of me and thought working for somebody thats already doing it would be the perfect fit to provide cash and the experience. I'm already working a day job so you are probably right in saying that in the long run its only going to slow me down. I intend to start my 1st campaign this week (payday is tomorrow) with POF.
Do some offline consulting on the side. Clients are plenty and all the work can be outsourced. If you're not familiar with what I mean, send me a quick email at gaurav@seostrat.com and i'll set you up with a few ways you get get going within the week
Can always get a job as an AM if you have sales skills. We're always hiring the right people. Or you can go here:

Thanks for the responses guys.
Gduggal: I'd like to talk more about doing some consulting on the side for sure. I'll send an e-mail over and we can chat more.
Smaxor: I see your screen name a lot all over the forum. Seems like you have a lot of experience and would be a good person for me to network with. Hopefully we can chat more. It would be good for me to network with some like minded people.
I started off with about a $300 a month budget. Don't limit yourself and prevent starting campaigns because you don't think you have enough money to get started. $300 is $10 a day. Sure, that's just one campaign at a time, but you'll eventually find something that works.
I totally agree with Hannah (lulz)
It's true, I started with a 500 a month budget. If you bomb one month and lose it all, spend the rest of the month researching more and figuring out what went wrong.
It's very possible to hit a big winner with 300 buks to you. Most good networks will also extend to you payment terms to help you pay ur cc bill if you get cutt off and your campaign is profitable. This industry is dog eat dog, but when money is there to be made, networks will be your best friend =)
don't AMs steal big profitable campaigns at networks then leave and make it rain?
Content writing, linkbuilding, design/coding (If you can). Head over to the buy sell section at wickedfire and see what other people are offering. I recommend content writing because its easy and content is in high demand. You can easily bring in a couple hundred bucks within a week or two if you hustle hard enough. Save 1000-1500 and start testing some small campaigns!
Get a business credit card.. first business credit card I got had a limit of 13k. Don't go spending it all crazy, but you can test either larger budget campaigns & still pay 300 a month to just work down the card or you can spend smaller amounts but always have reassurance that when you do find a profitable campaign you can scale. ( I would recommend keeping a grace period tho...meaning don't let yourself get over say 3-5 months budget in debt, so once you hit 1500 and can't pay more than 300, I would pay it down asap before continually spending)
Another option...
Sell something(s)... most people have about 40-80% extra shit just lying around their house that they haven't used in months and don't really have a need for. Weigh your priorities out, if you want to get started with a larger budget then consider selling off some shit that you don't really need. Might sound a little extreme but sometimes you just have to make sacrifices.
