Hi all,
I want to use some landers but how does it work with the tracking on
Since I am using Route53 (or NS1) I ve set up Custom DNS on Namecheap. In this case, I cannot add a Custom URL in
What should I do to track my landing page AND my offers?
Cheers!
You should have a domain for the tracker and a domain for your landers. This way you separate everything and can setup your tracker without problems.

Hi servandosilva, thank you!
Can you explain me better? So everyone has 2 different domains? And landing pages and offers are tracked separately?
There seems to be a confusion here.
Landers, offers and other variables are all tracked together within
But you need one domain to setup your
Router 53 is a DNS service so you can actually use it to add custom URLs from there instead of namecheap as well, but make sure you have one domain for tracking and one domain for your landers to keep everything separated.
Keep in mind I'm not saying anything about offers. Offers are being tracked within your tracker campaign's and within the CPA networks so you don't need a separate domain to track offers. Only 1 domain for the tracker and one for the landers. That's it.
Hope this helps.
Ehm I am getting more and more confused sorry
Let's say I want to promote a offer X.
I want to use a landing page on my site as a pre sell with a cta to redirect people to the offer. I've bought the domain on namecheap and the website is hosted on aws (s3+cloudfront+route53).
I can't track these pages because I have custom DNS already and tutorial says I need basic DNS. So what do I need to do to track both landing pages and offer? Isn't the offer already on another website provided by affiliate network? I don't understand the path
I thought it was landing page - > offer link. Am I missing something? Thank you for your help
Hey there Riz,
I think I can shed some light on this for you - it's the same with most ALL tracking platforms being implemented in the campaign.
This is the flow for using a redirection link from your tracker:
- Buy traffic from a media source - destination URL is the campaign URL from your tracker (
- Traffic is redirected through the campaign URL to the landing page URL (these are two different URLs - tracker.com to landingpage.com)
- CTA on the landing page uses a tracker URL as well (tracker.com/out.php) to send traffic to the offer URL (affiliatenetwork.com/offer)
- Traffic is routed through tracker.com/out.php to reach affiliatenetwork.com/offer and then the offer is completed and a postback occurs
You also have the option with some tracking platforms to not use a redirection link, which becomes much more Facebook/Adwords/Whitehat friendly:
- Buy traffic from a media source - destination URL is the landing page URL
- Traffic is routed directly to landingpage.com and a pixel from the tracker (thrive's landing page pixel, for example) is fired upon the visitor arriving on landingpage.com
To include a tracking platform in the mix, you'll need to use their links or pixels at some point, otherwise, the tracker won't register any of the action happening in your campaign.
Let me know if I can clarify any further for you!
Cheers,
Thank you both! Now everything´s clearer!
