I'm thinking of switching from Imobitrax to Voluum, but I still need a server/vps for my landing pages etc right?
Sorry I'm kind of confused on all this cloud based stuff lol

Hey!
Yes, you need to have a place where you will host your landing pages. So Voluum will work from cloud, you don't have to buy a server for this, but you still need a server for your LPs.

I see people saying you can host your LPs on a CDN?
Or is some sort of server still recommended?
Sorry Im not tech savvy at all lol

Yes, you are right. For Voluum you don’t need VPS because it’s cloud based.
You need basic web server for landers.
Check vortexs sweepstake/ pop tutorial in mobile/pop section. In day 2 I think you will find a step by step guide for: Amazon S3 + Cloudfront ... this should be good to start with.

Yes, instead of server you can use CDN. I recommend to read this info about CDN:

One last question, currently I run on a dedicated server, do you think it's better to switch to a CDN over a dedicated server?

It really depends on what GEOs you're running. CDN shows you a good speed in many countries. But if your server is located in EU, but you run asian geos, it can be more discrepancy. So if you know what geos you will run, just buy a server. If you work with many different counties - CDN is your best choice

But I don't use CDN. I just have 3 servers: EU, USA and Asia. It's enough for me.

Advantage of CDN is that the page will be served from a server (point) close to the user.
CDN can server only static content, so disadvantage is that you cannot use server-side scripting as PHP, however basic landing pages using HTML, CSS, JavaScript and images are totally fine.
VPS is a full featured server, but it's physically sticked into one location, so as pointed above having VPS in EU and running Asian geos, it's a bit disadvantage.
You can though still fire up several VPS in different geo locations.
So everything depends from what and where you plan to run.

Since you are running dating and banner clicks, it's not really needed to use a CDN. One negative of using a CDN is the unability to launch server side codes on it ... so no php for example. Not sure what your LPs look like, but it can be a problem sometimes. I think you will be fine with your current dedi.
