Can you test image ctr for conversion campaigns with ppe campaigns?

Hey,

I have lots of images I want to test for CTR.

I thought that I could get results quicker and cheaper if I first run ppe campaigns.

For example 1 campaign with different ad sets were each ad set contains the same image 3-5 times
and then see which image got the best ctr and use it later for conversion campaigns.

Does this work? Will the results be more or less be transferable from ppe to conversion campaign?

Thanks

I'm not an FB expert, but the easiest way to find out about this, would be to set up 2 camps, a conversion camp and a PPE camp, with the same 3-5 ads, and run them simultaneously for some time and compare.

Also: The results of this comparison can probably ONLY be applied to future camps where you're targeting the same audience and everything else. Otherwise the correlation between CTR for conversion camp and CTR for ppe camp may be different. When you use a different objective, FB will show your ads to different people. So if you change more than one variable, you'll need to re-do the test/comparison.

Data or performance of a campaign does not transfer over to another as it acquires and optimizes data from a clean slate.

What you proposed might work, but campaigns will behave differently since they optimize for totally different objectives.

As you are testing relative performance across different images but with same campaign objective - it will work with some margin for error. Your thinking is right, i used this method. Might try also same thing but with link clicks instead of ppe. There is a high chance that best CTR images from these tests will get also highest CTR in conv. campaign
