Frustrated by Low CTR... Am I going to be able to make this my first green campaign?

Hey guys,

After following the CTR boosting tips listed in the big AM thread (https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...-AM-FAQ-Thread!), I can't seem to push my CTR above 1%, and it's tearing my motivation away to see so many clicks going to the shitter each day... Speed is good, ctr-bumping scripts are in place, images are compressed, my copy is flawless, the lp seems to flow well in all browsers according to browserstack.... i've done everything by the book.

I'm getting a bit discouraged, any help would be appreciated.

Traffic source: propellerads
Traffic type: pop-under mobile
Connection: wifi
Geo: Tier 1
Vertical: phone sweeps

Here's what I've done so far:

Had some problems with my domain getting flagged - so my ROI is lower than it should probably be - but here are my results for today on that winning combination:

I feel that if only I could pass more clicks through that pre-lander, my results would improve dramatically and I could turn this into my first ever green campaign...

I've tried raising the bid dramatically, no impact on the CTR.

My "losing landing pages" didn't do much better, which makes confuses me even more. I'd be down to reconsider my landing page, but the 5 top performing LP's I ripped from Adplexity, no single one really stands out in terms of CTR, and they're getting beat when it comes to conversion rate... Here's the data per landing page since the campaign started.

Hey @silvertongue.

I can see your frustration.

If you already added scripts and it still doesn't help (did you try back button redirect that redirects back to itself? or exit pop?) you can still look on placements level and see if it's not some placement that's bringing you a lot of low quality (bot) traffic.

Cutting those placements could help.

But as I see it's Tier 1, the CTRs there are usually much lower than in tier-2 or tier-3 geos.

You can wait what others have to say, but sometimes it's just time to move on and test new campaign if the numbers are against you.

Ie. do you want to beat a dead horse or milk a cow?

Hey, thanks for your response.

I'm running the backbutton script to Monetizer, and I'm thinking of having the "cancel" button on the exit pop also do that.

The thing is that I'm running 3 other campaigns in other geo's - same vertical, similar landers, CTR results about the same. Which tells me there's more to learn here and gives me hope that the dead horse will spit out some milk :P (given it's a cow in disguise)

But as I see it's Tier 1, the CTRs there are usually much lower
Any range you have in mind? What's much lower? are we talking in the 1-5% range? lower than that? (really looking to reassured here ... )

As for bots, i followed the js bot trap, but that hasn't allowed me to cut a single placement yet... not sure if I'm looking at this right. The following is my source report for the lifetime of the campaign on the JS Parse offer - would you cut any of those? (following the 80% bot rule, i haven't cut anything yet).

Just as Erik says, CTR in Tier1 Geos often is way lower compared to Tier2/Tier3.
It also depends on the verticals you run but especially for sweeps I also usually see very low CTRs.

Don’t stress about CTR. I have a lander with 20% CTR that is doing worse than another with 1% CTR. Both in the same Geo.

Forcing users through your lander not always helps. Sometimes it does, but it’s not a rule for sure.

High CTR really isn't always the recipe for solid ROI, often it's exactly the opposite. 0.68% is a bit to low though, you should be able to go higher 1-2% is possible even in tier 1 GEOs. Try to work on the copy or the overall layout ... based on my experience, sometimes it's better to keep it simple and straight into the face, instead of writing long paragraphs of text. Better images, bigger headline, more prominent CTA ... there is a lot you can try.
