Shopify Store + Facebook Ads

Hi guys I'm new to STM and have been using the all the great insights here to start my Shopify store. I decided that I want to master Facebook as a traffic source and therefore, ecommerce felt like the right thing to do. I hope to continue to learn from all you guys here who have been doing this for many years. Cheers!

1/31 - Up to now I have picked the niche that I want to target. I haven't done extensive research of this niche yet but I'm excited about testing these products with the angle and marketing I have created.

- I have created version 0.1 of my store and it looks decent. I created a logo on logojoy.com and started adding products to my store. However, the pictures for each product on aliexpress don't give the site a professional look to really sell them. I'm thinking that I will have to narrow down to 15-25 products, purchase them and test them for myself and then take picture of them myself. I figure this can help me write better copy for each product description. I fell like, if I'm going to get a customer to purchase anything, I have to really sell them with really good product images.

Thoughts running through my mind:

Is the marketing and angle I create for my store more important than the individual products themselves?

If someone does buy the product, how is the packaging they will receive (box, product, etc)? Will it be inline with the marketing and story I'm selling these customers, or will it give them a different feel or story?

Is it possible to get the store/brand name of these products or packaging?

Next of the do to list:

I want to gather around 20-25 products for my niche from aliexpress, possible go through them with someone who's a lookalike a potential customers to get some feedback and insight. Next, I'm leaning towards buying these products and taking better pictures of them and evaluate them for myself. After, I plan to pick the best products that I've evaluated and put them on the sight.

Thanks for reading, I'll appreciate all the insight I can get from you guys!

Everything you will do in terms of copy, pictures etc will set you apart from the competition that doesn't bother with these things.

So I'd give a big yes to buying the product yourself, getting some hands on experience and taking unique pictures. I always recommend this if you really want ton know what you are selling.

Make sure to make a quick video as well. Just a static camera and an unboxing video will be enough to get started.

If the product is cheap enough, buy a few.

Have some people write a review for you in exchange for a free product. Cheap and easy way to get real reviews, which will sound a lot better than some text you can buy from Fiverr.

Most important would be to focus on execution. Order, write, create video, get friends and family on board for their freebies and just get it done.
Then move on to the next thing.

Good luck with your store and keep us updated!

Yes, if it's a common product, you have to sell a "story" around it. A niche/scrarce product will sell itself most of time.

If you are doing dropshipping I guess you can demand some things regarding packaging, logo's etc. Would depend on the distributor I guess?

Creating your own content is definitely a MUST when you are fishing in the same product pond with loads of others. Not only for webshop product photo's, but also for your FB ads!
