Split testing ad copy / headlines / images (5)

Split testing ad copy / headlines / images

I have a few questions related to split testing on Facebook.

Do you launch lets say 50 images and 1 ad copy / headline to find the images with highest CTR and CR? And once you've found those images, you start split testing ad copies? Or do you just upload all the different variations at once?

My approach has been to upload 5 images and 2 ad copies. However, uploading all combinations at once turns out to be a little bit messy when looking at the results to figure out what performs better.

Just wondering if somebody has a good structured way of performing the testing.

Cheers!

When i want to test a offer, i'll search for 20 different related pics, and and test 2 titles and 2 body's.
Then if the offer works out, i'll check the best performing ads and go find allot more familiar pics and only use the tile/body combination that worked.

Also, to have a good overview to track my ads etc i use this in the sub id: UK-EWA-CP-M2030_1 which means : country-network-offer-sex-age-ad number
this way i always know what i am looking at.

i'm curious what the others work method is

I tend to test images first, maybe with 2 headlines, but will leave body copy til later.

Following on from what Marco said above, I've started using the extra tokens in CPVlab to add more granularity on tracking (I think they are c1-c4 variables in p202). I use tnum (title number), bnum (body number), adi (ad image), agemin (minimum age), etc...etc...

It gives you a whole load more flexibility when analysing the data. Also, if you are using the fb ad uploader, you can automatically add these extra tokens by using [titlenum], [bodynum], [imgnum], etc...

Thanks for the reply guys.

This is pretty much how I'm doing it myself actually. I've not used the extra tokens though. What kind of extra flexibility do you get from using tokens compared to appending everything at the end of the keyword variable in p202; ?kw=UK-EWA-CP-M2030_1 ?

stocks - you can cut your data in different ways and its easier to look at the combination that is actually converting best.

with p202 you can do the same - i think its c1,c2,c3,c4 variables you can add into the campaign url. check the p202 manual though.
