CPVlab login not working anymore (12)

CPVlab login not working anymore

I know there was a thread a couple of days ago about CPV Lab and someone sending an email from "cpvlab.pro" telling customers that they need to switch to cpvlab.pro as the old licensing server won't work anymore soon, but I coulnd't find it... The recommendation was not to pay for the new license.

Anyway, now I wanted to check if my old CPV Lab still works and I'm getting an "The application requires an active Internet connection" error at login.

The campaigns still work, it's just not possible to login anymore (and to make any changes or check stats).

I won't buy a new license and will stop the few small campaigns I have on CPV Lab or switch them over to my main tracker, so this is all just FYI.

This is one reason why Prosper202 is still unencrypted even though it’s self hosted.

I will admit it makes running a biz much harder, but it’s something that I would want if I were an affiliate that needed to remove points of failure/disaster from my biz.

The semi good news for cpv lab users is that the database isn’t encrypted. So they can at least get their data out to transition to another tool as needed.

I didn´t receive the email although I have a CPV Lab license.
I don´t use CPV Lab anymore but as far as I remember the demo on cpvlab.pro looks exactly the same as CPV Lab 3.01.
When you check the domain whois of cpvlab.com and cpvlab.pro you can see that they both have different registrars and completely different whois data.
Based on that I would think that the email maybe was a phishing attempt.
Strange is that you can´t login to CPV Lab anymore.
Unluckily I have it not installed anymore to check if it´s the same for me.

From what I heard the partners split. So the email is probably real. This is all 3rd hand info, so take it as unverified information.

Ok, didn´t know about it.
Still strange that not all customers receive the email then.
I checked the demo account at cpvlab.pro again and it definitely is version 3.01 running there.
But I also found this http://support.cpvlab.pro/kb/faq.php?id=42 where they explain what´s going on.

Hi

I tried to login into my account and exactly what was said before.

"The application requires an active Internet connection"

Support has not replied for 2 days which is super odd as they tend to reply within 24 hours.

I got no mail about and updated version.

However I got an email from my card payer that the company stopped some kind of payment link to them.

Anyone know anything new, I'm sitting not having access to my tracker and had to pause traffic.

No, this is not possible, unless you want to dig into the SQL database with a size of hundreds of MB. But access to CPV Lab is not working anymore. The semi-good news is that the campaigns continue to run.

I don't know how the other affiliates handle their campaigns, but I have an Excel sheet with all the links I'm using for LP and Offer, so it will be easy to migrate my few old campaigns to another tracker.

When you have been writing tracking software as long as I have, it’s quite possible after understanding the database schema

I had to read the docs to understand how CPV Lab works, but I am already in the process of getting a data extraction tool completed for some clients.

I've seen a post somewhere that CPVLab was about to cease operation ... might be related to the split as Mr Baffoe suggested, so instead of taking it down entirely, one of the partners decided to go on with the pro version ... one way or another, whoever is still using CPVLab should move away from it as soon as possible.

Here's an update.

I looked around and yes one of the partner's seems to ventured off to continue the software as there seem to have been a big differences of interest to the software development.

I contacted cpvlab.com on their support and have got no reply which was unusal thinking it was my host who had probably amended something.

I then contacted cpvlab.pro and they responded within 30 minutes with the below.

Email1.
"Thank you for your email.
I am really sorry you can't login and that you didn't got the warning email, we did try to send as many emails as possible lately, but the old server started to have problems sooner than we expected.

Indeed, the company split and the 2 owners who initially started CPVLab decided to go on their different ways. One partner remained with cpvlab.com and the development team started CPV Lab Pro as we want to continue develop the tool.
We noticed there is an issue with the old licensing server and we first informed our old partner, but we got no answer back, so we started to inform users and to have a new server put in place for them to make the switch, if they want to.

So, if you want to stay with current cpvlab.com team, you will have to contact them to help you, we have no access there anymore.

But, if you want to switch to CPV Lab Pro, here are the steps:
1. Payment for the migration to the new server which is $99 per domain. Payment can be done via PayPal to the contact@uptechvision.com account. I can send you an invoice if needed.

2. Provide us the following details for the domain that will be migrated:
- the domain name complete with any subdomain or subdirectory (or the login URL). It needs to be in one of these formats: domain.com, subdomain.domain.com or domain.com/subdirectory
- the version of CPV Lab running on this domain

3. Our team will work on the changes for your specific domain and version and send you back an archive with the modified files that you need to upload on the server. We will send you the modified files in less than 24 hours.

And this is all that needs to be done, you will be migrated to the new server and won't have any access issues anymore. Plus you will get free access to the next CPV Lab Pro release from July 2018 and support in our new Help Desk: http://support.cpvlab.pro.

Please let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks"

Email2
"Hello,

As mentioned in my previous message, here is the warning email we tried to send to as many users as possible.

Thanks,
[name]

Greetings,

My name is Radu and I am the lead of the development team of CPV Lab. I am writing you to give you some news about CPV Lab and its future.

As you may have noticed, lately there have been issues with the support tickets and troubles when accessing the CPV Lab instances. A few months ago the 2 partners that launched CPV Lab back in 2010 decided to take different paths. The cpvlab.com domain and the server remained with one partner, while my company and the entire development team decided to continue with the development of new features and new versions under the new name CPV Lab Pro (https://www.cpvlab.pro).

Since you are a top user, I want to share some very good news and some not-so-good news.

The not-so-good news are that the current server that allows access to the current CPV Lab instances is reaching its limits and it's just a matter of days or weeks until it will crash completely and nobody will be able to use the application. Unfortunately we don't have access anymore to that server and we are unable to make the required optimizations. And as it seems nobody has the knowledge and the willingness to make the required optimizations on that server, we predict that the moment when the server will crash is very near. Although the CPV Lab application is self-hosted, it requires a server to validate licenses and this is the server that is having the issues.

The very good news is that CPV Lab is going forward!
Me and my team will continue to develop and support CPV Lab under the name CPV Lab Pro. We are very excited about this since this project is like a child to us, we wrote every line of code from it. We already setup a new powerful server that will be able to handle all users and logins. We plan on releasing a new version in the coming months which will bring some much expected features:
- support for PHP7
- native support for HTTPS and option to quickly install a SSL certificate; option to use even a free SSL certificate
- ability to Update Exact CPC/CPV Per Keyword/Target or Ad
- options to comply with the new GDPR laws for protection and privacy and tools for the GDPR requirements
- allow new tokens to be passed to Landing Pages and Offer Pages in order to offer more customizations: browser name, browser version, operating system name, operating system version, visitor country etc
- and much more

We highly recommend switching now to CPV Lab Pro in order to avoid being stuck without access to your Stats and Reports from your CPV Lab instance. Once the old server will crash you will not be able to login and the following message will be displayed: "The application requires an active Internet connection".

If you decide to switch today to the new server used by CPV Lab Pro, we can offer you:
- modified files with custom changes for your domain(s) and version(s)
- free upgrade to the new CPV Lab Pro version that will be released in the following months
- 6 months of support in the new dedicated Help Desk: http://support.cpvlab.pro

Creating the modified files requires custom work for each instance and for each domain. We can offer all the above for $99 per domain. Payment can be done via PayPal or credit card and you will receive the modified files in 24 hours. We are sorry for this extra fee but there is a lot of work involved for the development team in switching each instance to the new server.

You can find more details and a migration FAQ section in our knowledge base at:
http://support.cpvlab.pro/kb/faq.php?cid=6

We are looking forward to hearing from you and hope you will join us in our journey with CPV Lab Pro.

Radu & the CPV Lab Pro team

Strange, my login is currently working again.

So I'd suggest you download the relevant data so that you could setup the campaign in a new tracker in case the login server is off again.

I got a response from cpvlabs.com, which was to communicate to them through another email directly.

It seems obvious they have resolved that issue, how resolved who knows and for how long who knows.

For the company not to contact all it's users especially active before or even after the server situation to at least make them aware they are attending to the situation with an ETA resolution is concerning.
