Hi guys
I wanna give email marketing a shot. I would like to know how can I avoid getting my email sent to the promotion folder on gmail?
Thanks a lot!
There is no definitive answer for this, I've been trying to find a solution not so long ago ... and didn't really find anything that would work 100%. There are some words to avoid in the text, minimize the links and other obvious tricks like that.
A frequent trick that pretty much everyone uses is to instruct your new subscribers to move the email into the main folder, something like this :

And one more thing ... based on the chats I had with a few affiliates/marketers ... people got used to this sorting and that it's not perfect, so they learned to look into these folders too and open emails that get stuck there. It's a lower open rate for sure, but that can be partially overcome with more frequent mailing.
Depends on the quality of your database too. You gave it already a shot with a small test? If yes, what open rate did you get?
I think it really depends what you are emailing about.
I am getting 60% open rate on the affiliate newsletter I started. It goes out every workday, so frequency is also quite high.
I've also taken some hints from a very successful newsletter on how to onboard new subscribers, so both the Thank You page and the Welcome Email essentially deal with this topic. They let the subscriber know what to expect, when, and how to not miss it.
