Affiliate Marketers are 25-35 usually - what's next after aff marketing?

I am getting old, 35 this year.

According to over 20k spent on Facebook Ads this year for Banners&Landers; most of the affiliate audience is 25-35 age group. That means "my time" as an affiliate should be coming to an end it seems since I am turning 35 in September; but where do affiliates evolve to?

What do they do after the 35 age? To they all get burnt out and go back to 9-5? What is your experience, what have you seen, what do you think?

making your own product that targets this audience keeps you afloat regardless of the age. or maybe someone will invent a pill that can turn us into Gods, that would solve it )

Internet belongs to our generation. As we grow up that age range you mentioned will change just as we will keep working online even at 50 and more.
BTW I'm 31.

I've been in this game for the past 13yrs and I see a general progression...

Young guys under 30 .... Usually start with really aggressive Blackhat, Cloaking...etc. Campaigns like nutra, skin, sweepstakes where you can start a campaign today and be making 10K/day by tomorrow and be completely dead the day after.

30-45yrs old ... I see them getting tired of the constant cat and mouse game involved with cloaking, bans...etc. They've made 7-8 figures from Blackhat, and their ready to focus on more whitehat stuff, lower income but less headaches.

45+ crowd.... I see these people are offer owners, service providers...etc.

Plenty of exceptions to the above however those are the very "general" findings Ive seen in this industry.

I tend to feel the same way I am 39 and your age demo is only b/c guys my age started at the dawn of affiliate marketing, so I am sure years from now that age range will grow. It's true burnt out sets in and you look for longer term plays and less headaches. Perhaps you evolve into a network owner, or offer owner.... either way after so many years of the daily grind, making landers, creatives, chasing offers, chasing money..... I do question do I really want to be doing this at 60? If not what will it look like.

The average age in affiliate marketing is 25-35 not because of capability or older people getting burnt out, but because that is the generation of people that were in a position to take advantage of the massive opportunity at the time.

Most of us here found out about affiliate marketing in our early 20s. At that same time, Facebook ads rolled out. The first mobile ads launched. Mobile billing, rebills, and mobile app offers launched. There were also mega leaps in tracking technology. Not to mention forums sharing high quality info!

Affiliate marketers before us didn't have much to play with ad network wise, tracking wise, offer wise, information wise.

If you are still an affiliate after 10 years then you are doing something wrong (unless you had the goal to make affiliate marketing your career). Most use it as a tool to gain skills and capital. They then go on to do bigger and better things.

Why did you enter affiliate marketing?

To make money?

For what?

Maybe that will help you answer what to do next.

Hm, I'm turning 45 in September...

I like my job as an affiliate marketer, I'm doing it for 8 years now. Much has changed in the industry, but in the end I'm still sending traffic to an offer owner.
I've started a new (crypto) venture recently, will see how it works out.

My goal is financial independence, but I want to continue working afterwards, but only part-time.

Attila, just keep your eyes open, and you'll see new opportunities outside AM in case you get bored. But there's no need to rush, you are only 34...

I've been doing this since 2001... I'm 42 now.

There is no end in sight for me, but always turns and forks in the road. That's what makes it an interesting career and life :-)

Much more fun than "digging ditches" as they say!
