CPM vs SCPM

Ever since I started mobile pop I've been using the SCPM or smart bid option, however I see that alot of guys run CPM bid instead.

It seems that I overspend way too much when I choose CPM model. Is it really only best to run CPM when you have narrow targeted campaign I.e. IOS - Wifi - Tablet - Chrome Browser Only ?

Not sure which platform you are talking about, but if there is an SCPM option I would consider trying it out.

At least you can use SCPM to your advantage and find out the "real best bids" and if you very want you can switch to CPM with the bid that worked for you the best.

However I would just stay with SCPM, it allows you to see the dynamics -> if someone steps in bidding in front you, you will know it by bids going up, or traffic going down, so you can easily act on it.

SCPM means you also save $, by paying only what is really needed.

Thanks for the reply. These were exactly my thoughts on SCPM. Maybe the stuff I am reading is dated back before SCPM was common. Ive been running on several traffic networks and most of them have smart bidding. I was just wondering under what circumstance would you find the need to run a flat bid like that since costs vary so much between placements.

If you can use a bid optimization then its a lot more profitable at the end, most of our advertisers that use the bid optimization with CPM get very good results, the algorithm can help you get good results with a minimum spend, so I recommend to stick with the Scpm and don't change to CPM
