Facebook shutting down partner categories

Wanted to discuss this with everyone and see how you think it will impact everything. I'm slightly worried and here's why. There are some very broad ecom products where I always thought it would be hard to target for. Some of them don't have obvious interests to target or have large enough interests to target. I just recently started looking more at targeting like purchase behaviors and after seeing some of these options all of the sudden I realized they would allow you to be more confident and successfully target for some of these products. Then I do some more research and realize facebook is removing all of these partner category data sources in six months.

I have done ZERO testing with any partner categories and I'm just getting started with facebook ads, but it's definitely discouraging seeing these data sources being removed. I'm curious to see what everyone thinks about this and how you think it will affect performance advertisers.

I've been wondering about this myself too but it sounds to me like lookalikes and custom audiences just get that much more important.

You might have to use AdWords to get a stronger custom audience - you get people to visit your website and hopefully buy.

Perhaps influencers with an audience relevant to your niche, then you pixel them as well.

In general, you have to rely less on interests and behaviour and more on FB's black box algorithm.
