Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Hey guys! hope everyone is having a really nice day!

I'm posting in this thread hoping that someone can pull me over in the right direction. Im really fascinated by the world of digital advertising and affiliate marketing. I've spent the last 2-3 months reading and reading and reading some more! i ran one direct link campaign following that excellent guide that was provided on this forum, but to be honest it wasn't my cup of tea.

Im really having a hard time starting! Im not sure what i should be doing!

Im part of a large cryptocurrency group and the admins of that group have found significant success in digital marketing, i tired reaching out to them but recieved no answer which is no big deal. I just wish there was somone around that i could pick their brain as to whats going in in 2018.

I always thought it would be cool to run ad campaigns for all different types of clients, like an agency of some kind.

Ill keep this post short, but anyone have pointers for someone just starting out? Im ready to go but i dont know where to go! ill be digging much more through STM. any insight would be greatly appreciated! i hope someone sees this and i cant wait to talk to that someone

Hi Connor,

Reading is all well and good, but glad to hear you've already taken some action as well.

Regarding not knowing where to go, well first you've got to set some goals and then figure out how to reach them.

How much money do you have set aside to invest into learning AM?

What traffic source do you want to learn and master?

From there it's just about setting an attainable goal, breakdown the steps you need to get there, and going all-in on learning that source.

Hello conor142,

as thedudeabides already mentioned, it's hard to tell you what to do, without knowing what you want to achieve ... you should have at least a very basic idea about what you want to do, what vertical/niche to try ... etc.

BTW : we are finalizing a mamooth report on what are the trend in 2018, what stopped working and what is growin, so stay tuned.

On a side note, since you are involved with cryptos, if the bull run returns, crypto will be super hot again, there are already some crypto affiliate offers available so why not check them out and be ready when it starts again?

Cheers,
Matej.

i think what i would like to learn, and correct me if this is wrong, would be to contact businesses and websites and say "hey i can help you increase your traffic/leads/sales with ppc campaigns"

is this a common business model?

meanwhile running my own affiliate offers for practice Again correct me if im wrong, i should:
1. make a niche website
2. create some content
3. add affiliate offers
4. buy traffic
5. test for optimization
6. make some money (hopefully lol)

Is there a way to run offers without a website?

Thank you for getting back to me and allowing me to ask you some questions. I am preparing to post my first follow along!

It is yes, but you're not the only one with the idea So your potential customers are exposed to offers like this all the time, the competition is very high. It's hard to get the first clients, but if you can deliver results, the word of mouth will get you new ones. It's all about what you can achieve for them, companies want results.

1. make a niche website
2. create some content
3. add affiliate offers
4. buy traffic

This is not what majority of us is doing. We don't build websites at all. We work with simple (or more complex) landing pages that we buy traffic to send to ... the LPs are meant to increase the conversion rates of the offers that the clicks are sent to.

You can even send traffic directly to an offer, without even hosting a landing page ... though it's very hard to make money this way as you are losing one step to pre-sell the offer.

You can of course create sites too an build content for them, but buying traffic to boost traffic of an info/free site will not result in profits. You would have to build heavily sales focused sites, maybe ecom stores for example, or focus on traffic arbitrage... this can work too.

There are quite a few approaches that you could take, hard to list them all in a thread

you are the man Matuloo! thank you for clearing up some of my questions.

So the path that i would be creating can be something like this:

My link or advertisement that the consumer will click directs them to my Pre-sales landing page. This sells them on my offer while collecting potential information. Then from my landing page they are sent to the vendors offer, where they complete whatever action the offer is asking for.

Is this the Sales funnel? ive been bombarded by Click Funnels recently with all my searches on this topic lol.

Yup, this is it pretty much ... ad click --> landing page ---> offer

Matuloo is right on the money.

Creating your own landing page that pre-sells the offer is a smart way to go, especially if the vendor's own sales page is somewhat lacking.

This is, of course, a double-edged sword of sorts, however.

I would like to assume that most vendors have tested multiple iterations of their own sales pages and are continually modifying and improving, but that's just an assumption. Just because someone is a vendor doesn't mean they're a SMART vendor. They might know their product, but they might be horrible at actually converting prospects to customers.

The rub is this.... if you yourself can't recognize good sales copy, then how do you know whether or not the vendor's own lander is strong? The page YOU create might actually DISSUADE the prospect from buying! You might be better off NOT getting in the way of what could already be an excellent sales message.

It's a tough call... especially if you're just starting out.

The answer?

TEST!

Funnel some traffic through your own lander... and funnel some directly to the vendor's page. See which performs better. Then tweak, tweak, tweak.

Let none of us assume that we know how ANY market will respond before we actually venture out and conduct tests. The market will ALWAYS inform us.

Stay nimble. Welcome the feedback. (A horrid CTR is feedback... EXCELLENT feedback... because it tells us, "Hey! Go in another direction! This one's not working!"

Stay open-minded and always be willing to turn on a dime.

Let your last test inform your next. That's the way the pros do it. No reason a newbie can't as well!

And if you can, attend Affiliate World Conferences! They're a goldmine of money-making information packed into 2 solid days of learning and fun.

Good luck!
