Hello from Boston (10)

Hello from Boston

Hello,

I'm starting a thread based on the suggestion from Vortex. I'm at Day 19-20 and quickly going over the coding classes. I do have a few questions that are sort of big picture rather than related to the Newbie Tutorial.

1) I keep hearing a budget of 3k. Is this the amount a person is willing to loose before giving up affiliate marketing? If I have a budget of 10k, would you suggest something different than mobile? I keep reading people wish they started right on FB in some threads.
2) I'm looking for something that's not extremely hands-on when scaled up. I have a day job that is not super stressful, but I won't be able to work on campaigns during the day other than logging into traffic source website and shutting down unpromising campaigns from my cellphone. Ok...I can probably sneak out to a cafe a few times a day, or negotiate an office share agreement with a small business near my company, but definitely not more than 30 min at a time. Is mobile an appropriate place to focus in my situation? I probably don't want to quit my day job unless I can be reasonably sure I can make much more than 300K in affiliate marketing on a full time basis.

Thank you! I will keep updating this thread with additional progress.

Hi kickasspaintjob,

Firstly, welcome to STM

For your questions:

I suggest a continuous budget. Here is my breakdown:

For traffic set it to at least $10 a day. You will also need a tracker if you use Voluum that's $99 a month. There is also hosting ($25) and this forum ($99) which I highly recommend to subscribe continually as this will be a tremendous help on your learning process.

All be said, it will cost you at least $525 a month bare minimum so if you only have 3k budget, it will run out in around 5 months. It will be tremendously hard to get your money back in this short time frame as there is a very steep learning curve. If you stop due to no more budget, you easily get demotivated and the momentum will broken once you decide to run your campaigns again.

For your second question, it will usually take a few minutes each day to study the data after you launch your campaign. It is more of how you fight the impulse on keep changing things as newbie. That was what I learned, let your campaign run for a full day. Only check at night when you get home. Which will take around 30 minutes at most.

I would aim for higher traffic spends than wes888 outlined above.

To really get some meaningful data, you need to spend way more than $10 per day, $50 is like a minimum actually, better if you can shoot up to $100. Maybe not day to day since the beginning, but you need to have that reserve in case you hit something that needs a proper test.

The 3 calculation is also based on a similar daily spend and it counts on some part of the budget also coming back in form of payouts from the networks ... even the worst campaign makes some revenue, you never lose all of it. 3K should give you enough space to PROPERLY have your try at AM ... so buying all the tools and having enough $ to spend on traffic over the course of 2-3 months.

30 minutes during the day is enough to quickly check if all works the way it should and pause things in case they go south. But to setup campaigns, research markets and competition, prepare ads etc ... you will need more time for sure.

As for the questions, whether to try mobile or not ... mobile pops are cheap and come in fast, so it's good learning ground ... but its VERY hard to make profits there. People usually like to start there and learn the basics for "cheap", then they move elsewhere. FB has definitely more potential for the future than mobile POPs. But their traffic is WAY more expensive and they love to ban ... so not sure if its the best source for newbies.

Do the columns such as "Signups" and "Clicks" reliable statistics? In other words, if all the offers that show up after filtering to a specific country have less than 100 "Signups", is that what I should expect in terms of conversion potential of the offer universe in that country?

Hello,

I've been trying to rip some landers off of AdPlexity for two Video Argentina offers from Mobidea. Vortex's guide Day 22 says use keyword to search for iphone X for sweepstakes offer landers. How do I search for the lander for Video offers? Specifically, the two offers are 15186, 14445. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Those budgets are always just estimates.

When I started, my plan was to spend $25/day, which eventually in few days became $100/day and then more and more.

The nice thing is that you can change it as you are getting results.

Once you find something promising you will naturally want to spend more $ on it.

Regarding if to try mobile or no I definitely recommend you to read through the report that was just released yesterday - a LOT of golden nuggets and ideas there, you came at the right time!

Hello kickasspaintjob!

For those specific two offers, I would advise searching by keywords of what the video is about. Thus for 15186 offer, you can try to type "Garfield" or "Cartoons".

Hope it will help

Thank you! I found the lander by searching video. In the process of fixing the lander.

I'm at Day 28 and ready to start testing for BOT traffic. I have about 6 offers that I suspect are from the same advertiser but with different graphics. I created 6 LPs using the 6 different pictures provided by the 6 offers. My question is do I rotate through the 6 offers and 6 LPs within the same campaign? I'm attaching a screenshot of my Voluum. Thank you very much for all the help and advice so far. STM forum is truly worth it!

Hi! I'd say it's better to put 6 landers with 3 offers in rotation, like this you'll have more structured results and it will be easier for you to analyze the campaigns.

Good luck!
