How to reverse engineer Traffic Sources to find Niche Specific in-app placements?

So I launched a POD store with an illustrator buddy of mine, in a specific niche.

We are actually quite amazed at how awesome it is looking, and our no-BS reviews confirm. Wish us luck, it is one of the big niches, but also a long-term brand building project, not free+shipping milk-cow.

We will be doing all the logical ecom moves in terms of marketing, but I thought about running in-app ads too. I have never reversed engineered Apps for placements. To be honest I dont think we need the biggest, latest top performing app to run sweeps. Quite the contrary. Small scale brand awareness/discount codes, and yeah, hopefully some sales. But primarily, just find a bunch of these niche specific apps that have Ads, and do some tests targetting them.

I've only ever done the opposite, throw banners in RON mode not even caring which apps they show up in.

I suspect App Annie is a good place to start, but then have no clue how to source specific Niche Apps that run Ads, and then where to actually buy those placements.

Any and all pointers/ideas/suggestions highly welcome.

Congrats on your new project! (Sorry just saw this post!)

Where are you running traffic? On a DSP like Go2mobi for example, you can see a list of inventory they have and target accordingly:

https://a.go2mobi.com/inventory

Is this what you were looking for?
