App Installs and How To Track? (9)

App Installs and How To Track?

Hello everyone! I'm testing my very first offer (Direct Link) on Advidi, along with my first lander.

The Advidi offer is an app download and the offer link brings me straight to the Google Play store to download the app.

I made a landing page using mailchimp.com, exported the HTML file, and uploaded it to my landing page website.

I have a VPS set up to host my landing page on a specific domain, lets call it myfirstlander.com

I have my Lander set up in Voluum and the lander URL is myfirstlander.com

The call to action button in my landing page is my click url, lets call it http://track.testingtest.com/click

When I click on my CTA button, it brings me to a "400 Bad Request" page.

Now, what I don't get is how do people get routed to my landing page to begin with? The target URL in PropellerAds route directly to my landing page. Since this is a PopUnder ad, does this mean my landing page will popunder certain websites when people are browsing? If so, what kind of websites will my landing page pop under?

I wasn't sure if I have to create a banner for someone to click, which routes to
myfirstlander.com, which would route to the offer at the Google Play store?

I started the campaign and did a $10.00 test budget using PropellerAds. I see 5,029 visits and 511 clicks. Does this mean there were 5,029 visits to my landing page or does this mean my landing page Popunder 5,029 times? Lastly, does this mean there were 511 clicks on my CTA button?

Hey Dtao, couple of things:
1.When you open your Landing page URL directly and click on the "click url" it will always give you a 400 error. This is because when you setup your campaign, Voluum automatically links your lander with the offer, so through voluum you can quickly change the offer leaving the same click url. However, if you just open the landing page url without going through voluum's flow, it won't know where to send the "click url" to.

2. You will have to track the domains using voluum/propellerads, a good tutorial can be found here: https://propellerads.com/blog/track-...voluum-easily/

3. You don't have to create a banner campaign, it's possible and might increase your quality but an extra step from popunders.

4. 5029 visits means that your lander was viewed/popped under 5029 times, and 511 clicks means they clicked on your CTA button ( Click URL) so those 511 clicks were the one's who reached your offer page.

Hope this helps!
-Anthony

Optifyme already answered all your questions, so not much to add here ... thanks for helping out optifyme!

Just one thing to add, here is a link to a thread explaining POP traffic in more detail, you might want to read it to understand it better : http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...inition-1-POPS

Cheers,
Matej.

I just ran a campaign again and I' now have 4,244 Visits, 4,722 Clicks, and 12 Conversions. How can one have more clicks than visits?

This is usually caused by some "autoredirect" script in the LP, or a backbutton redirect that is sending clicks back to the same click url.

Is this necessarily a bad thing and requires attention/troubleshooting?

Yes and No

No, because it's a standard think to do, it's one of the most popular tricks to score some extra conversions from the traffic.

Yes, when it's not configured properly. Many affiliates simply force the clicks to the same click url, where it becomes part of the rotation and it messes up the stats, since you can't really distinguish between normal and forced clicks. My preferred way is to send these clicks to a new directlink campaign with a few related offers.

That's very interesting. I honestly have no idea how it happened or what I could have done differently to cause that. I set up my landing page, campaign on Voluum, and campaign on PropellerAds normally and some of my campaigns have a CTR of close to 200%, while others are 20-50%. Either way, my actual CR is lower than I'd like and the campaigns aren't profitable

There will be some script in the LP causing it, most likely.
