hi guys and girls
every guide online and here in forum that explains how to set up your first campaign seems to be missing something.
i go to my
i dont know the traffic source postback URL.
so i went to pop ads and think i found it. http://serve.popads.net/cpixel.php?s2s=1&aid=xxxxxxxxxxxxx&id={externalid} &value={payout}
now do I just copy and paste it in or do i need to replace anything in the URL?
Also it says something about impressionid.
"PostbackIn order to use Postback conversion tracking, you need to first collect [IMPRESSIONID] during the impression and then pass it to the Postback URL below in place of impressionId. Make sure to set the conversionValue parameter to amount of money that the conversion was worth in US dollars (without currency symbol, dot as decimal separator, no thousand separator). This tracking URL is valid for all your campaigns, so it can be used in trackers such as
please let me know what im doing wrong.
First of all, we need to understand what the postback does. The default function of it in AM is this : when the offer converts, the postback is launched with some sort of additional data, depending on the configuration. SO basically, it sends some information BACK to where the click came from.
Now, you have to decide, where you actually want this information to be sent to ... back to the tracker, back to the traffic source, back to some custom element that you coded ...?
The default settings that I'm using (and I believe it's what the majority is doing), is to only use a postback to tell my tracker what click converted. So I'm not setting up postbacks to traffic sources, they don't "need" to know what converted for me, I like to keep that part private.
I would recommend to start with this setup and ignore traffic source postbacks, at least for now. Just configure the postback with your affiliate network.
thank you matuloo. i understand this now.
Like Matej, I usually wouldn't recommend passing conversion info back to the traffic source. I'm NOT talking specifically about PopAds, but traffic sources in general.
Call me paranoid, but many traffic networks have internal media buying teams, or at least reps that run campaigns on the side. I wouldn't want it make it too obvious which ones of my campaigns are doing the highest ROI.
But to answer your question about setting up conversion postback to PopAds, try this:
1)Grab the postback url from PopAds like you did. Basically go to PopAds, click on the campaign name, click on the "Conversion Tracking" button. Then copy the url in the "Postback" section.

The postback would look like this:
http://serve.popads.net/cpixel.php?s...onversionValue
2)In

Then scroll to the bottom and hit "Save" to save PopAds' settings in Voluum.
That should be it. If it doesn't work please let me know and I'll look into it some more.
Amy
thank you vortex!
i guess what threw me off was that since the PopAds template was very basic, i looked at the propeller ads template and it had the traffic source postback URL already in it.
i thought i needed it for PopAds.

thanks to you vortex!
