Need tracker recommendation for Listicles (12)

Need tracker recommendation for Listicles

Hey everyone,

I'm sure you've seen those list-style articles running on FB and Native. Usually you have 1 big blog post which then links to landing pages, and then to offers.

The tracker needs to work with LP1 -> LP2 -> Offer. Voluum doesn't support this yet (mind boggling, we've been requesting this for years) and Funnel Flux hasn't been reliable as it just crashed on us for the 3rd time. It redirects fine, but I can't load any data after... 3000 visits. And yes, our server is good enough.

So has anyone found an alternative that works well for this type of campaign? I've seen a few affiliates hacking around Voluum but the workload for setting up and then optimising a simple campaign is ridiculous.

I just found this out about Voluum a couple weeks ago and I couldn't believe it either. I remember having the same problem back in the day with 202. You'd think in 2018 it would be a standard feature by now. After seeing the Voluum "tickets" for this that hadn't been updated in a few years I knew I'd be switching soon. I have a competitor I've been spying on that does a lot of this, where they have a funnel consisting of multiple pages, and they use thrive tracker. If you visit http://thrivetracker.com/ they have a "funnel" section that describes exactly what you're looking for. I'll definitely be switching to thrive as soon as I get done with initial testing. If you end up switching please PM me and let me know how it goes and if you run into any problems.

Did you try to solve this with funnelflux support? There is more staff working on the project now, I'm pretty sure they should be able to help you.

I think Voluum wasn't built with this in mind, but they should really add it, many time I have ideas for similar setups/funnels and I really miss those.

Too bad FF crashed, I recommend to consult it with their support.

One idea how to do it in Voluum may be through 2 campaigns, where the "LP2" would be link to the other campaign. Not ideal at all and probably pain in the a** to properly track & optimise.

Not got it figured out properly, but suspect you might be able to do something with the Voluum impression pixel.

Have visitor come through on a campaign and fire impression pixel on the 1st lander

Link through to the 2nd lander is regular, then /click/1 link to offer.

You won’t get the ctr internally between 1st and 2nd lander. But if that was important then perhaps have the impression pixel fire on the cta click (can prob do something nice with variables for each offer here also)

Probably only makes sense in my head :/

Funnelflux crashing - I'm guessing it may be due to the database getting too big for the amount of resources available?

One option would be to try the managed version - It's pretty good value IMO:

hey I can help with that you want a LP1 - LP2 - then to offer? hit me up see if can help cater to your tracking needs. I wrote about my tracker here

@Amy I had only done 3-4000 clicks for the day when the issue happened and I couldn't load any reports. The tracker install is also relatively new, there's no huge backlogs of data to clog up the database. The server is fine also. Upgrading to the managed version is not the solution here.

@Mitchell I'd rather not use a tracker owned by an affiliate network. Got nothing against Clickbooth, but there were too many rumours floating around about iPyxel backend "features"

@ianternet I'll check it out, thanks!

Well, it's pretty surprising and sad that you got 3 crashes out of 3 attempts. Especially considering the low amount of traffic we're talking about here. 4000 clicks per day is nothing, we have the self hosted version running on servers with multiple millions of hits per day, for more than a year. We're also constantly running stress tests and have been pushing as much as 430 requests/second on some, not so big, servers. 430 sustained requests per second is equivalent to more than 37M hits per day.

What I notice though is that your 3 attempts were done on servers installed via Launchpal - we have been recommending Launchpal for quite some time, and our tests there never led to any crash - however it was some time ago and I don't know if anything has changed in their setup. I'll give it a try to be sure!

If you feel the managed is not for you, and since you still have a self-hosted active license, why not make a new test on a Vultr server installed with our own configuration scripts?

How does one go about this? If I wanted to use vultr but not your managed? is your managed on Vultr? How do you get your guys config scripts for vultr?

We have a video and also a text tutorial for installing FunnelFlux on Vultr with our scripts here:

http://docs.funnelflux.com/technical...vps-from-vultr

For the managed, we use DigitalOcean as customers get multiple servers under a load balancer. Vultr doesn't have the ability to do that. We have a FAQ for the managed here:

Also, we just rolled out a deployment manager that makes it much easier to roll out FunnelFlux.

Right now it works with Vultr though we're adding Linode/DO/AWS/Google in the future.

It's similar to our config scripts but is automated with Jenkins/Ansible and so on, basically just takes your API key, asks you some questions, then does the full setup including activation. The only thing you need to do is handle the domain/DNS side.

You can find the link to the deployment options page from your membership area on login - http://www.funnelflux.com/access/member
