What do I need to change so that I can go from negative, break even to +€$¥
Hi guys,
this is my first question in the forum. Hopefully somebody will read and answer.
I’m not sure wheather that should be in the follow-along campaign section. If yes, then please advice and I post it there.
I’m running now FB- Campaigns for about 2 months. I still struggle getting profitable.
And right now I have no idea how to go on and what to focus on.
Therefore you can see in this post my most recent results. I did my best to make it as clear as possible. I hope that sb can find the problem in the data.
Niche: Weight Loss
Funnel: FB Ad ------> Quiz Lander ------> VSL
CAMPAIGN 1:
Run time: 7 days (BUT: 2 days account deactivated (credit card location and my location issue) + manually deactivated during night time. Therefore 5 days effectively.
Results
Purchases: 5
Impressions: 3.176
Rel. Sc.: 9
CTR: 9,86%
CPC: 0,29 €
Costs per result: 18,20 €
Spent: 91,00 €
Commission: 153.82 €
ROI: 69.03%
Campaign Objective And Targeting:
- Website-Conversion
- Conversion Event Location: Purchase
- No end date
- custom audience (Lookalike, 2%-3%, from Affiliate Manager)
- Country: USA
- Women 50 - 65+
- No interests or behaviour defined
- Placement: Only Facebook Feed
- Only iOS (all iPhones, all iPads)
- os version: min. 2.0 - max. none
- only when wifi is activated
- optimization for conversion
- Conversion Window: 7 days after clicking or 1 day after seeing
- Bidding: automatic
- Paying for impressions
- Delivery: standard
CAMPAIGN 2:
In Campaign 2 I wanted to scale the profitable ad in Campaign 1 by increasing the daily budget from 20€ to 40€. Furthermore my AM suggested that I try a different LAL in another Ad Set.
I also implemented the campaign structure for wc campaigns I found in this post here:
1 Campaign -----> 2 Ad Sets (with different targeting) -----> Each Ad Set contains the same Ad 3 times
I used 2 Ad sets with different daily budgets (20€ for the new LAL Ad Set and 40€ for the Scaling Ad Set)
Ad Set 1: Same as in CAMPAIGN 1 except for...
Daily Budget: 40€
Targeting:
- Women 51 - 65+ (I used 51 instead of 50 bc I read that this would avoid an audience overlap)
- Conversion Window: 1 day after clicking
After 12 hours I deactivated the Ad with the least results in terms of impressions (1024 vs 8)
- Runtime: 6 Days BUT due to FB account deactivation only 2 days effectively.
- Purchases: 1 (FB Ads Manager shows for some reason 2 purchases but it was only one)
- Impressions: 2.059
- Rel. Sc.: 9
- CTR: 10.40%
- CPC: 0.37 €
- Costs per result: 39,29 € (that number is wrong bc of the reason mentioned under “Purchases)
- Spent: 91.00 €
- Commission: 32.21 €
- ROI: -64.60%
Ad Set 2: Same as in CAMPAIGN 1 except for that...
...my Affiliate Manager suggested to try a different LAL that I created with the hard coded pixel on the offer’s thank you page
Difference to Campaign 1:
- Lookalike of most recent buyers (I assume that not all of them were up sell buyers)
- manual bidding: 60€
- Conversion Window: 1 day after clicking
Results
- Runtime: 1 day effectively bc of Ad Account deactivation
- Purchases: 0
- Impressions: 248
- Rel. Sc.: too less impressions
- CTR: 6,45%%
- CPC: 0,98 €
- Costs per result: No purchases
- Spent: 15,72 €
- Commission: 0 €
- ROI: -100%
As the CPC was so high I decided to don’t keep running that ad.
Today my Ad Account was deactivated again bc of payment issues. Shall I use a proxy to run Facebook in my banks country (Germany) or is that also a suspicious activity? Right now I get it deactivated every other day.
Here are some other questions I have so far but answers to that question might not be enough to get me profitable.
What ROI should I aim at with a 20€ daily budget to make it scalable?
What metrics do you focus on most when starting a new ad? CTR, CPC, ROI, Profit, all, other?

Scaling a ROI: 69.03% campaign is kinda tricky yes, since there isnt much room. I suggest to drop the other things you did and focus on this campaign only for now.
How many images/videos/creatives did you test with the first setup?
I suggest to duplicate the winning ad set, with new images/videos to see if you can find ads with a lower cpc.
How many clicks from FB you have on the first setup going to the quiz-lander, and how many clicks you have on the VSL page?

Stop using their LAA for targeting.

With that set up I tested only 1 image.

Yes. I thought so too. My problem here is that I don't have too much money to burn. Is there any reliable way to test images/videos before
using them for a wc campaign? For example with a ppe campaign?
How many clicks from FB you have on the first setup going to the quiz-lander, and how many clicks you have on the VSL page?
I have 313 clicks from FB to the Quiz Lander and around 27% conversion on the Quiz Lander. So that's like 85 clicks to the vsl. (Can't see the exact click number right now bc my network is changing something in the interface).
@symba3

That doesn't make much sense to me because the traffic is converting. I can only imagine that many people might be using the same LAA and therefore the CPC is high. But how would I create a new one by myself with little conversions so far?

think about this, if the traffic is converting why are you not profitable yet? imagine 100 affiliates are using the same LAA, CPC goes up and you burn the audience quickly. What's your edge?

Test more images mate, 1 image isn't representing anything. Your cpc 0,29 isnt bad, but imagine you can decrease it to 0,15ct for example, what shouldnt be that hard if you test loads of images/videos!

I have to agree with this. I think the sweet spot is LAL + flex/behavior targeting.
