Facebook Interest Targeting - Audience Size

Hello everyone!

I'm following Caurmen's eCommerce cookbook - I've got to part three & I'm unsure what my audience size should be when setting up my ad. I'm currently looking at my first interest based one which has an audience size of 11 million people which seems huge when my budget is only going to be £12.50 a day. Should I be stacking interests to narrow this down to a smaller audience size?

Any advice its hugely appreciated.

Hey,

The audience size looks huge to start.
Maybe you want to narrow it down to Age, target specific location where delivery is available. If you are targeting specific product, is it more useful for men or women, gender targeting might be a consideration. Also, try to target at specific times in a day.

These few things might help in reducing the reach.

I advice to test it, if your first intuition came up with this audience you selected. If you see CTR of the ads is bad and the CPC is high, narrow down as much as possible.
From their, test loads of images and videos, if your targeting is as relevant as it could get.

I'd also suggest to just try another product that you're able to target better.

There are a lot of great products that would be useful for us, such as containers that increase the capacity of the fridge. However we all have the fridge in our houses, so you would need to target all people.

It's better to choose something like auto filling dog bowl (just example) and then you could target just dog owners etc.

Thanks everyone for the replies.

I'm only targeting women (its a female product) to start with and I feel fairly confident reducing the ages to only 35 and under, still at about 5.1 million audience size. Few questions, is there a sweet spot for ad spend in relation to audience size? What audience size would you recommend aiming for?

zyggmunt - Your advice does seem relevant because there are a huge amount of people that could make use the product and there are so many different sub-sets of people I could target on this product alone. I'm going to do a bit more research and see if there are smaller niches I could target initially as the one I've chosen to start with is a mainstream interest.

Your daily spend could be around 100 dollar on a 100k audience for quite some time. This is quite a broad estimation tho' and depends on several other things too ofcourse.
