Need help Saling Up Profits
Hey STM Family,
I'm currently profitable at direct linking with monetizer plus (afflow). I'm looking into new ideas on how to increase profits outside of the buy more traffic and scale up bids methods.
I notice that I'm getting 2 levels of click loss. From traffic source to voluum and then from voluum to Monetizer. In one traffic source my click loss is like over 35% by the time it goes from traffic source to monetizer.
I need some ideas if on how decrease this if possible. Here are some ideas I got and let me know if any would help my case:
-Does using a CDN and hosting apply in the direct linking world?
-I currently don't have a personal domain in voluum, would it help if I create my own?
-My monetizer account is linked to my own custom domain. Is there anything I do to that to make it faster?
-I'm monetizing WIFI traffic right now. Would switching to carrier traffic lower click loss?
Any ideas you guys have would greatly help! Thanks in advance!

Hello,
let me give you some answers :
-Does using a CDN and hosting apply in the direct linking world?
Nope, using a CDN won't help you ... since you're already using a cloud hosted tracker, there isn't much you can do in order to increase loading speed.
-I currently don't have a personal domain in
Voluum, would it help if I create my own?
Probably not, you could use a custom domain and use a DNS service such as dnsmadeeasy in order to increase loadind speed ... but it still has to go through voluums servers, so I'm pretty sure it won't help.
-My monetizer account is linked to my own custom domain. Is there anything I do to that to make it faster?
I'm not exactly sure how their setup works ... so that would be a question for their support.
-I'm monetizing WIFI traffic right now. Would switching to carrier traffic lower click loss?
3G traffic will definitely show a different performance, it will also convert differently ... might be better or worse, depending on the GEO and the offers monetizer has in rotation at any given time. Usually, 3G should do better ... but it needs to be tested on current conditions.
Traffic loss is normal, especially on mobile and in some GEOs (asia ...) so there isn't much you can do about it ... especially since you're direct linking. It's part of the game, so you have to factor it into your calculations.

Thanks for the detailed reply matuloo. You just saved me a lot of time I was about to waste.

Hello,
To increase more profits, you should narrow down the targeting. Anywhere you spent more than 3X without conversion, pause those sources, devices, OS, browsers or any other targeting. Find the common grounds for all the parameters before pausing. like any android device with chrome is not working, pause that one (if you haven't done that already).
It should help in increasing some profits.
And of course try more offers with the same targeting, with the same traffic source.

On top of what achilles wrote : there is also dayparting, with enough data, you might spot certain periods of days where the performance is either very good or very poor. This will be different from one GEO to the next due to time zone differences.
You can also do week parting - so targeting just certain days of the week ... some verticals are working better on some day ... as a good example, adult dating works the best on weekends and on evenings
One more tip, since you are using monetizer : they don't have a constant set of offers and they get rotated ... so try to look at the bigger picture. Just because you see poor results on one day, it doesn't mean it cannot work on the next one. Offers come and go, caps get filled ... keep this in mind when doing decisions.
Good luck

Like matuloo said, using a faster DNS provider can decrease lookup and redirection speed - worth a try! For a comparison of DNS speed across providers please see:
https://www.dnsperf.com/
Also: Consider taking out Voluum tracking altogether, and just optimize your camps based on stats in monetizer/afflow.

If I'm direct linking I can't use a DNS right? Or can I?

Only if there is some custom domain of yours somewhere in the flow... I suggested that option since you mentioned a custom domain in monetizer. But let me repeat, faster DNS will have a very small effect on the overall speed, unless the current one is totally shitty.
