Setting up tracking on a lander with Voluum (7)

Setting up tracking on a lander with Voluum

I’m setting up my first campaign on Voluum.

I’m using Native ads (Revcontent) to promote a lander, which has a banner that links to my offer.

I followed the Voluum tutorial on STM to set up Voluum with a lander – the link works fine.

What about my banner?

I obviously need to link this to the offer – do I set up another link in Voluum as a direct link to add to the banner?

Thanks guys

Hey Tacoloco,

I am a little confused from your post, with banner do you mean the banner from Revcontent? (what your customers will see and click)
If that is the case, then you should go to voluum and create a new Campaign, there you will choose your landing page (that you have already set up^) and choose the offer that you want linked to your landing page. When you hit save, you will get your tracking link, this is the link that you will add in Revcontent, which is the same link that a user will go when they click on your Revcontent "banner"
Here is a pretty clear tutorial on how to setup your campaigns with your traffic source & lander to offer flow: Creating a Campaign in Voluum

If I misunderstood your question please let me know ill be glad to help you

Hope this helps

In Voluum you create campaign and you plug there your landers and offers.

Banners are on the other side plugged into traffic source (in your case RevContent). So you create a campaign there, plug your Voluum campaign link and your creatives (banners).

Thanks for your help guys, i can see where i'm going wrong, but I still don't understand this all works together.

I created a lander and added my own banner on the side.
I specified the lander in Voluum (like shown in this tutorial).

How does Voluum track clicks on pages past the lander?
Do i have to specify a funnel (a flow?) - a path of URLs that the user must take?

I see, you mean you have a banner inside your lander, and thats where the user would click to go to the offer page?

Then you need to use Voluum's Click URL, there is a guide here.

You can Find your unique voluum click URL in settings/setup. This URL will be the same in all your landers, and depending how you create your campaigns flow, voluum will automatically know to what offer to link it.

For multiple offers, there are multiple variables on the click url http://your_Voluum_dedicated_domain.com/click1, http://your_Voluum_dedicated_domain.com/click2..... you will also be able to choose multiple offers when creating your voluum campaign.

Hope this helps.

It works like this :

A campaign needs ADS that produce traffic, that Traffic is sent to Landing Pages and when someone clicks something on the Landing page, they are sent to the offer.

So, when setting up a campaign, first thing to do is go to Voluum and setup :

A) Landing page, setup as many as you like, define their GEOs etc ... KEEP IN MIND that every CTA button or link on the LP has to be linked to the Voluum CLICK url - you can find it in voluum setup.
B) Offers ... again setup as many offers in voluum as you please. Make sure to place the {clickid} token into each offer url, based on how the particular networks requires to structure it.

Once you have both A and B setup, you can create a campaign in voluum : define the LP(s) and Offer(s) for the campaign and save it ... this will generate a Voluum CAMPAIGN link for you. You can define the paths or flows in the campaign setup.

Copy this link, you will use it at the traffic source.

So go to the traffic source, upload your ads and link them to the Voluum CAMPAIGN you generated in the previous step.

Now this is what happens when someone clicks on an AD in the traffic source :

1. The click will lead to voluum ... voluum will assign a clickID to it and record all kinds of data for it.
2. Since you used the voluum campaing link, voluum knows what campaign it belongs to, so it will serve a LP that you defined for that campaign.
3. Same happens when someone clicks a CTA on the LP. Voluum knows what offer to send it to. When someone clicks, the {clickid} token will transfer the Click ID to the affiliate network.
4. Now the affiliate network carrier the ID on and in case this click results into a conversion, it will send the click ID back to voluum so it knows the click converted. This is what a POSTBACK does and you have to set it up with your affiliate network before sending traffic.

Is it more clear now?

Thanks guys - i get where i was going wrong now.
I set up Voluum and had the landing page tracking correctly, but had skipped the Click URL step.

It all makes sense now that I've got a handle on this!

I appreciate all the hand-holding!
