How much of a disposable budget should you have before diving into AF?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I was wondering if anyone had some pointers as to how much money someone should have saved before they get into Affiliate marketing. What's the absolute minimum amount you need in order to practice and learn effectively? Thanks!

In my opinion, about $3000 is a safe budget to start with. This allows you to run with a decent budget of about $50 per day over the course of about 3 months ... after some time, the payouts will start to come in so it might be even longer depending on how much negative you are in the first weeks or months. This will also be enough to buy some basic tools that you need, like tracking, hosting, domain and maybe a spytool.

People have made it with way lower budgets, some had previous experience, some were just lucky ... depends on your background too.

3k is a big generalized... so lets break it down a bit:

ecommerce (Shopify, fb) - 2k
mobile (3g, antivirus, adult, sweepstakes etc) on popunder - 3k
adult (soi, doi dating) - 3k
adult (cams, male enchantment) - 6k
native (nutra, health) - 6k
native (binary, casino, crypto) - 15k

The rule of thumb is:
the higher the payout the more money you need.

Offers are segmented by payouts:
mobile subs are in the 0.5 -5$ range
soi,doi dating is in the 2-10$ range
nutra is in the 10-20$ range (unless its cc trial scam, then its nearing triple digits)
financials are in the triple digit range.

True, I generalized this a bit too much ... having the usual newbie combo in mind (SOI, easy leadgen, subscription offers). Some verticals or traffic types definitely require a larger budget.

Depends on the payout Pavel,
but for sure you need 2-3x less funds on fb than on native.

The reason for that is that on native you are dealing with different placements,
that need to be weeded out + traffic quality fluctuates.

FB is nice, predictable traffic. Quality only swings on certain time-periods, such as pre-christmas etc..
But even then its not the actual quality swing, but rather inflation of ads.

I would recommend to check out this post:

It doesn't answer your question specifically, but it super-relevant for any discussion involving test budgets for affiliate marketing.

I guess you need to decide first what vertical, GEO, Traffic Source and so on. For example, Native will cost you much more than Pops or banners.

i would say dig into it a bit and read the post recommended by Vortex above first.

Having said that, for Native, I would say 3-5K$ min for Tier 2 countries like eastern Europe.

Good luck..

I would say for pop traffic & mobile offers with a low payout, $3000.00 should be enough for testing and at least getting a payout from a network if you focus.

Moving to facebook and native I would say around $3500 to $5000, it depends what type of offers you will run and how aggressive.
