Basically, the clearer your face is seen in the photo you upload and the more it resembles the one from your profile page - the faster it gets approved and the more chances you have to get your account back.
First time I tried to upload a blurry photo with a part of face shadowed - and I was waiting for a week just to get banned in the end.
Second time it was HQ photo with face clearly seen, and akin to the one I already had on my account - I got access to the account within the same day.
