For those whose done Gaming on Facebook
Have you guys notice a high scrub rate on the offer if you use an image that belongs to a diff game? For example you are promoting runes of magic and using images from world of warcraft, will this result in a higher scrub rate? Or just any mistakes you've made in the past with gaming and can share so that we may avoid those same mistakes.

first off....using non-ingame images .....is against most terms on most offers....
and you take a very high risk of not getting paid....
also with games its all about what backs out for the advert....run traffic that backs out = long running camp.....
run FPS images on Wizard101.....you fuck yourself and the rest of us doing gaming.....
just my 2 cents

I also will say on this same point.....work with networks that police there affs like a hawk....
yes its a pain...but they will have the best converting offers as what is getting sent to the advertiser is high quality leads....which equals higher payouts and offers that don't scrub

Is it usually best to run wide demos or keyword-based targeting for gaming offers?

I used images from others games/movies when I pretty much got started in aff marketing. Didn't knew any better and I was close to getting banned from the network. So yeah only use in-game images.

I don't believe gaming adv's that pay on those free sign-ups ever scrub us, and we've been running gaming for the longest time..

Agree with this. Although you will usually find that if you run quality traffic you can get better payouts eventually anyway. Might have to run at a loss or break even for a few hundred leads or so to prove your worth though.
Some guy I was competing with a while back on an offer was running in game pictures for a certain gaming offer, and I could not for the life of me figure out how he was making a profit with the images he was using as the CTRS were terrible. At the time i was using a scraper and could see the demos and targetting he was using. I tested the same images on the same demos and saw really shitty ctr's which made it impossible for me to make to a profit on the payouts i was recieving from the network
Anyway... One day his p202 collapsed and was allowing everyone that clicked from his ads to go to a page which shows all his campaign parameters including the payout amount he had set for that offer. Turned out he was getting 30% more than what I was for the exact offer which explained things a lot. When confronting the network with this they simply told me he was a top pubisher in the space and was able to get those payouts by running the best quality leads to the offer.
