FOLLOW ALONG: Goal to $xxx in PROFITS in Native!

Hey everyone,

Adi here from California. Been doing POPs for the past few months (thanks to the 6WAMC class - HIGHLY RECOMMENDED if you're getting started) and was able to reach $200-300 days (thanks to experts like Joshua and others). I recently decided to go to AWA Bangkok and it was CRAZY!

Got a ton of insight into the industry, made a lot of connections - traffic sources, affiliate networks, other affiliates. Things changed after AWA and now I'm sometimes hitting $300-400/profit day.

However, I've decided that it's time to now move to Native as that looks like a more viable long term option. This is a follow along on my journey of doing so. Again, I'm absolute beginner in Native but hope things work out and I'm able to reach the goal of $xxx profits by March (yes, that's the goal that I have for myself), so that I can quit my full time job and focus on Affiliate marketing 100%.

Here's what I've done so far:

1. Signed up for MGID ($1000), Content.Ad ($1000), RevContent (waiting for CC approval - need to put a campaign boost in order to get CC approved).

2. Content.Ad and RevContent don't accept casino/gambling offers which I was planning to promote

3. MGID - my creatives initially got approved but then again in moderation. Initially bid 5 cents but then increased to 10 (and now 14), still got super low traffic - 6700 impressions and 4 clicks for a total of 40 cents. MGID AM seems to be super unresponsive.

Any suggestions on what kind of GEOs and offers I should be running for start? I've heard Skin/Diet/Nutra are super competitive, so maybe not a great idea - but would love to hear from someone who has been doing Native already or have had some success in the past.

- Adi

I'm going native as well, but as a complete newbie for first campaign, would love to see updates on your progress as well.

Yes they do. Just not US offers for real money casino or gambling sites.

Mobile app installs for slot machines where you win virtual money or coins are not that.

Here's some updates:

[+] My campaign just got approved on RevContent (they don't allow casino in DE and AT too) in CH, so hopefully should have some good results by tomorrow.

Tried out the casino offer with MGID - $58 spent with 0 conversions.

Tried another diet offer with $35 payout from TerraLeads with Content.Ad, however that was unsuccessful as well. Below are the stats:

It's partly my fault with ContentAd since my LP was in German and Content.Ad only has english speaking traffic even in Germany.

I tried two campaigns with Voluum DSP too - one casino and one diet.

So overall:

Till Day 3:

Spent:
$80.48
Revenue: $0
Profit: -80.48

Notes: I think it's the offer which is not working. I will now try with some CC trials - more in the health and diet in Tier 2 and 3 and see if I'm able to get any conversions which can be then optimized and later run those in Tier 1.

(No one said Native would be easy)

I'm confused on how many campaigns you're running across how many networks.

But $80 spend isn't enough to see if one campaign will work on native, let alone several.

A $35 offer on native needs more like $350 minimum to even get an idea if it's going to convert, let alone be successful, especially if you're running RON and haven't blocked anything.

Do you have a traffic rep you can ask for a blacklist to start?

You absolutely need to make sure you're picking proven offers and landers on native to stand a fighting chance, which both your AM and spy tools will validate.

Otherwise you can seriously end up spending $1,000 without a single conversion your first go, which is exactly what happened to me starting out.

4 campaigns in total - 1 through MGID and Content.Ad each and 2 through Voluum DSP .

Total - 2 offers : A casino one through MGID, Content.Ad and Voluum DSP and a diet one in Portugal through Voluum DSP.

The prior offer (casino) one has worked well for me on POPs - till around 2-3 weeks back. Yes, I'll get in touch with the MGID and RevContent (where I'll be running campaigns soon) to share a BlackList.

I'm also now using optimization with pre-defined rules to ensure that none of the widgets spend a lot and gets paused immediately.

But yes, I will look for more proven offers working consistently well on Native on MGID, Content.Ad and RevContent and run those exclusively.

Nice job getting some camps going ! Yes, as thedude mentioned, you probably are going to need to spend more on each offer to truly get a feel for any performance. I'd suggest for any individual campaign, you at least run the offer to 3x payout, maybe up to 5x, and that's if your funnel is SMALL (i.e. 3-5 ads, 1 lander, 1 offer), otherwise you might need to spend more.

How did you source these offers? By any chance, did you see them either in spy tools with some good traffic, or perhaps find them in top positions on widgets from any of those given networks with manual spying ?

I'm pretty new with native too, and just stepping things up into higher gear this year finally. In my limited experience with native compared to pops, you really really should do thorough due diligence for any given camp before launching, unless you've got loads of budget to play with. I personally am trying to only launch things that I know FOR SURE are currently running with some volume on a given traffic source, then using that as my starting part.

This is exactly how i chose my clickbank offers when i first started off a few years back.

Got the link. Went on similarweb.com and checked to see how many views a month it was having, if it was on a uptrend so you know if people are pushing it.

Also you could look at average visit duration, pages per visit so you know how far down the funnel they got, and the bounce rate so you have an idea if people are staying on that offer page.

AND...

you can see the top referring sites. So when you mix this with adplexity and your own creativity and system in play. You can save ALOT more money on offers and have a much higher chance of finding a good offer to run that can really do some damage.
