Many guys don't realize, there is less difference in making 1k a day and 10k a day than is there
from making 0 to making 100 bucks a day.
The first conversion is most important because:
1) It shows your product doesn't have some critical flaws, like order page not working, links broken, that there is demand for it...
...or... if you're an affiliate that you're getting tracked well and making some sales.
2) It gives you metrics... how far off are you.
I remember being in negative 4 to 1 for a while with my testosterone business, almost the entire first year and we were averaging $1,000 a MONTH,
then on the first successful vsl test, we made 100k the very next month, then over a million and kept it there until I opened my nightclub and stopped even logging in online.
The whole point of having that first conversion is knowing you're in the game.
Once you're in... even if you made a sale in negative 10:1... you can:
and reward your passion and your pushing it until it happened. You're there.First conversion or the first bunch of them is INDEED a very important milestone, as you said yourself, it shows you're in the game ... you know the offer or product has some potential, you know that what you are doing is at least somewhat promising ... for many people, the first conversion in AM is something like a proof that the concept even works ... so yes, it's very important.
To be honest F5-button is still one of my main tasks a day. And still fancy every first conversion of a new campaign/new geo! But yeah, even after testing 100's of campaigns without getting a conversion, the first ones gives you faith and motivation to proceed, optimize, fail, learn, ca$h, fail again, fail harder even hitting rock bottom!
Kinda like a new striker at a football team, if he doesn't score the first 5 matches it's hard to keep your head straight. But you know there is always an opportunity to score with your kind of talents, find and grab that chance with both hands!
It's hard to keep motivation if you fail and fail, but try to get that from a forum like STM with lots of succes storiers, help and support!
This is true for any business. Your first sale is a huge validation of the idea and business model. As you get more and more sales, you will get better and better in finding more clients/sales as well. Its like a snowball, gets bigger and bigger lol.
Anyway, great post!
Yes! I remember the brutal hard work of starting from scratch and the sheer adrenaline rush of my first conversions, and then scaling up once I had enough proof of sales.
Love it. Thank you!
great words and something I will keep at heart. I'm running my very first campaign tomorrow morning and I'm ready for the downs before I get my up!
