A Popads campaign suddenly stop converting completely, possible cause?

Hey guys,

We have a profitable Popads campaign suddenly stopped converting completely today. Please take a look at the stats for today, yesterday and lifetime. A same lander/offer is used in another traffic source Zeropark and is converting well. So the lander and offer are good.

Today

Yesterday

Lifetime

Something feels very off, how can a well-converting campaign suddenly stop converting at all.

Any thoughts? Please help!

Did you check your bid position in Popads if it dropped compared to yesterday? Were these conversions coming mostly from a few placements?

If your campaign has been outbid then this could be one of the reasons.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

And I checked the placements for today and yesterday. While there does seem to be a bidding position change, but placements that were converting yesterday are not converting at all today. Please take a look at an example.

Today

Yesterday

A same 2387935 placement that converts yesterday is not converting at all today.

Mondays tend to be a little weak. Besides that, if you have been running the pretty much the same landers and offers for quite a long time on a specific placement, it could be that either the lander or the offer has reached it's performance limits there. This is quite normal in case the visitors are being served for several days with the same page and offer. I would test some other offer/lander combination on those same placements that have showed good conversion results. It can result surprisingly good.

Pop camps will die for no reason - it's very frustrating, but is normal (and unfortunately, increasingly so....)

Try these:

1)Do a bot test to see if the placements that were converting well before, now has large percentages of bot traffic.

2)Set up a duplicate camp with the same settings as your current camp. Sometimes that will "reset" the camp, and previous performance would come back.

3)Increase your bid. Sometimes that would give the campaign a "jolt", plus trigger traffic from better-converting placements to improve performance.

4)Do 2)+3), i.e. clone the camp AND increase the bid on the cloned camp.

5)Pause the camp for 1-2 days, then resume. Sometimes the camp's performance would recover.

6)IMPORTANT: It may also be the offer you're running. Test a few other offers. Or if there are offers that were making conversions but got cut because they were inferior to your best offer, add them back into rotation and compare performance.

Let us know how you get on!

Amy

(P.S. Notice how I didn't even mention landers. This is because lander fatigue/burnout will usually not be the cause of a sudden decline in campaign performance. People won't all of a sudden be "over-exposed" to your landers from one day to the next. A similar argument applies to offer saturation: A geo won't be saturated over the course of a day. In both cases, decline in performance should be slow'ish, steady and gradual.)

Wow, wow. Unexpected knowledge bomb, I'll keep these in mind and will try them next time we have the situation. As for this one, the conversions are rolling in now, they were just delayed

Thanks, guys!

I noticed that the landing page CTR for "Today" went up by about 60% (it was around 15% on your lifetime and yesterday stats, but 26% for Today). So I would check if any new publisher popped out Today? So that most of the traffic came from this publisher, with a much higher CTR so possibly high percentage of bot traffic.

Just wanted to suggest asking your AM if there might be a problem with conversion reporting for the offer or some other tech problem that caused the offer to stop converting. Glad you could solve this. For the future, Amy listed pretty much all the steps to take in case it happens again

pretty obvious, but worth checking, maybe your offer has been paused by the advertiser.
