Hi All. I've been on here since the first of the month and figure it is about time that I posted a follow along. I am basing this campaign on a case study that stackman did and says that you absolutely cannot fail. I figured this is the best place for me to start.
) It is the NFL vs Valentine Day post http://stmforum.com/forum/showthread...owl+valentines
I have already started so I'll bring you up to date. The PPV campaign is focused around 1 sports niche site, nfl.com. And the site has plenty of traffic. The demographics is predominately male 18-49.
I struggled setting up prosper. The prosper videos where down while I was configuring it so I searched and found articles on this forum and others. I ultimately figured it out over a 3 day span. Of course the video came back online once I'd finished. I reviewed then after the fact to verify my work.
Before prosper was set up I ran traffic to some landing pages I designed around stackman's suggestions (polls). I figured a small test with manual tracking to see what is converting is a good start. I sent traffic to 2 iPhone offers on different networks, 2 iPad offers on different networks and a game offer. The iPhones and iPad did very poorly. Only 1 conversion. I did get some conversions on the game (11).
My traffic source is LI.
Impressions 3805
Spend: $60.02
Income: $17.00
Loss: $42.98
So now that I had prosper running I can show you some stats of the followup testing.
My premise is that the game offer was converting so I'd make some variations of it. I created LPs on
- the NFLs most feared player
- NFLs most hated player (recent news)
- who will win the superbowl, Packer or Patriots.

You'll see different landing pages. They are minor variations of the original that converted. As well as testing new offers like gift certificate and TV using the best lp with the best ctr.
I initially got some conversions but they dropped off fast and stopped. I targeted variations of nfl.com and variations on the 2 team domains.
Here are the main versions of the LPs. I also tested geo versions with no luck.

WHERE TO NOW?
My CTR dropped very quickly on these. Stackman did say to rotate offers often because they get stale very quickly. I guess it is time to try different landers and different offers.
Now that you are caught up on where the campaign is at I will give a more day by day updates.
I also appreciate any sage advise on what the next best steps are? I am not profitable and not even close.
Stephen
First of great start!
Most people give up and delay for 3 days cause a video is not online. You figured it out and got it all working without. You will have learned a lot more through this.
Initial advice -> be very careful what you spend on a test, especially if your pushing email/zip submits.
But good result though and you found an offer that converts.
Re your landers ->
* the 1st one - red on blue is very hard to read. drop the background graphic and have a white background.
* benefit of clicking is not very obvious so you might want to emphasize it in your headline
* these types of angles have been used a lot and people might be too familiar with them. See if you can make it more legit - give them a reason why your asking the question
* social proof -> show that other people have voted already and if your targetting Ray Lewis fans, make sure Kyle's votes are slightly higher
* Include some time preasure, like a countdown clock -> see my lander on the $30 per day PPV campaign for an example
