Coming up with campaign angles - step by step
Heres a quick guide/tip on how you can come up with angles for your campaigns.
Ive done one of these before, but just thought a slightly different approach would be worthwhile just in case you are struggling.
The basis of todays approach is the monthly email compete sends out. I just received the November 2011 edition.
From memory this is included each month:

It basically shows the sites that gained most (by %) visitors in October.
No surprise on the first 2 due to halloween, and certainly a angle/campaigns you should be preparing for next year at the start of October (way earlier if you do SEO).
But the rest highlights some good sources for campaign ideas:
http://www.thepostgame.com/
29% growth, with 9m unique visits in October.
Basically sports stories & news that is attracting visitors.
Just skip through the site and look for feature articles and posts. Here are some I spotted that you can build some campaigns around:
Some of the good pages on this site to check for ideas:
http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/high-five
http://www.thepostgame.com/blogs (check the popular posts on the right)
Next....
http://www.usmagazine.com/
21% Growth to 6.4m unique visitors in October
Check the hot pictures:
Well not so hot...but the bieber = daddy angle is a classic that will get the fans engaged / enraged. You just need to find the offer to make money out of this.
And always check out the hot stories for a good angle. How about this one:
Next....
The last one for today
http://www.zimbio.com/
21% growth, 6.5m unique visitors
This is basically a "user" generated multi blog on a bunch of topics. Like ezinearticles but for "normal" people.
Always check the "Popular People" widget if your looking for the popular celebs:

(A great section for some campaign images as well)
Always check the cast your vote widget on this site:
2 great angles
Anyway....
Hope this has given you some ideas!!!
Cheers
Tijn

Great guide Tijn. That photo alone is worth a run on PPV.
