Hey everyone,
So I'm going out on a limb here with this request, but no guts no glory right. Anyways here's a little background on my journey so far. I've been a member here for just over a year, and have read a lot (more than I did in school), and now have a good understanding of the industry, terms, processes, tools needed, etc. I also took the 6WAMC course in Feb of 17'. I've learned a lot and it came down to finally taking action. So I looked at my options: Native requires a large initial spend (from $xxx to upwards $x,xxx per day in some cases) which as a newbie this is out of my budget for testing.
Next Display: everything I've read has steered me away from mobile display traffic, not to say that you can't make display work, just looking for a little less barriers. I decided to try out sweeps on pops because of all the posts on here saying its a good place to start. So I started! I am excited! Camps up and running, Woo Hoo! The excitement fades fast though as you start seeing all that ad spend without any conversions.
First camp: did a split test between direct linking and landing pages, with 10 landing pages and 2 offers from 2 different networks also split into 3 separate campaigns, 1 desktop, 1 tablet, 1 mobile. first day got over 120K impressions with only about 500 clicks with 0 conversions. Results: I made a mistake of course. I did not make separate campaigns in
Now I've run multiple offers / camps with similar results. I look at my daily data and cut placements, and yes daily because my test budget is only $5 a day and all my impressions usually happen within an hour. I cut any placement that is at 2x payout or any one that I see gets most of my traffic (ex. 3.75 spend on one placement within minutes). I've tried staring with low bids= no luck. I tried high bids where I was 1st position for all placement= 0 conversions.
Anyways Pops isn't a long term strategy for me as I just wanted to get my feet wet and get into running campaigns (creating banners, creating/cleaning landers, setting up tracker, etc.) and dive into optimizing and learning how to look at all the data from traffic/tracker/aff network and how to understand and cross reference all the data to find whats working/not working.
So here's the ask - Anyone out there want to help me out? I am looking for guidance / help. I am not looking for a hand out and am more than willing to work and currently spend at least 8 hours a day on this. I don't know what I can offer in return (other than my eternal gratitude and friendship) so I guess I'll leave that up to you and I'll either accept or deny. If someone is confident they can guaranty profit (I know bold) I am willing to give 1/2 of profits for the duration of the help and a couple of months in addition (and am willing to sign a contract). PM me here and I'll get back to everyone.
Thanks,
Theo
Why not just post a follow along so that you get help from many people at once?
ok @cmdeal will do... working on setting up a pop camp today will have everything set up by tomorrow and will post a follow along
Hi!
Just a suggestion if you can break your main points into separate paragraphs. This will make your text easier to read
there you go @wes888, broke it up a little bit
Hi marketme,
It's much better now, easier on the eyes.
I would suggest cut your test landers from 10 to 1 or 2 initially as your daily budget of $5 is just to low to gauge the effectiveness of the landers. If a lander doesn't convert after say $10 cut it then move to the next one. Btw, how did you get these landers? Is it through adplexity? Cutting placements at this early stage is futile as you don't have enough data to make good decisions.
Once you see some conversions on the landers, decide on which you think is best and do some split testing. There is a steep learning curve in paid AM. I suggest reading Charles Ngo's blog as he has some nice insights in affiliate marketing. Good Luck on your journey.
Definitely start a follow along, and at $5/day budget for traffic you're going to have a hard time making quick headway.
Another option - take enough initiative that you have a demonstrable skillset/ hustle, then market yourself to try to go to work for someone as a media buyer. You've got a long road ahead of you my friend, and the ability to work in a physical space where you're immersed in the work could go a long way for you.
I'll have a follow along up within a couple of days. Thanks
