Hello all,
I am relatively new and working on building some campaigns for some video mobile offers (non-adult). I am having a very difficult time thinking of angles for this - I keep wondering to myself why anyone would ever get a video app when they can go on youtube.
The only ones i really can think of are:
People have phones that are so old that youtube doesn't work? I can't believe there would be that many people.
A particular teased video is so enticing to the user they need to click now and get it instead of taking 2 seconds to search for it.
I have seen these types of offers do really well but i can't really understand the though process behind them - i really would like some ideas to start incorporate landing pages.
Don't sell the app, sell the content it enables.
"Exclusive", "Only available here!", or just sell the content specifically.
Like you say, the app's dull - the reason why anyone would install is because they want to watch the videos.
Think about what you said yourself ... why would anyone get a video app instead of going to youtube directly?
1. Youtube censors videos
2. Youtube block videos in some countries
3. Youtube deletes some videos based on copyright claims
4. Youtube has no adult content
5. Youtube doesn't allow downloads
6. Youtube has some age restrictions
7. Youtube is full of retarded and annoying youtubers
8. Youtube records info about users, no privacy assured
9. Youtube is owned by google and full of ads
10. Youtube is very bandwidth heavy ...
11. Youtube is not exclusive in any way
There you have your angles, I could go on and on ... use it either in a negative comparative way : "Forget licensing limits on Youtube, this APP has none!" ... or focus on them directly without any comparison : "No annoying licenses, no limitations, no copyright BS ... download our app!"
You can come up with a ton of angles by using this approach.
