Hello,
I am new in native advertising, started few monts ago and I have build some good profitable campaigns, but after 2-3 my ROI goes very hard down. I dont know what happens. I someone spying me with adplexity? Other way of competition? Trafficnetwork?
I believe some trafficnetworks have a own media buying team. I have changed the bid of a individual widget but I dont get more traffic but my conversions goes down. Does someone else has this experience?
My roi was very good, up to 200-300% in green, now 50% in red.
How do you protect youre campaigns?
Regards,
Johnny
I believe spending time on finding a solution on how to protect yourself from spy tools would be just non productive. Just consider how much spy tools have emerged in the market during this year, it would be silly to find a solution for each and everyone of them since they are continuously working on improving their service. One other thing to consider is that a lot of experienced affiliates don't rely on just spy tools. They run manual spy regularly and they can still copy your camps.
Unfortunately very often it's not really clear why a profitable campaign suddenly stops working. There can be really different reasons for this - for other types of ad formats it can happen that the website loses traffic or simply stops performing, even though you were the top bidder.
Not sure how it works with your traffic source, but we are suspicious that some traffic sources might be selling traffic from concrete websites in bulk, so that there's nothing left for media buyers..
And yes, platinum is right - you will loose time trying to protect your campaign.
If this happens, try to find another opportunity to make money.
Add some scripts to hijack the clicks from those lazy leechers!
I wouldn't worry at all about the concern of affiliate networks competing with you on the same traffic sources.
If you are using
I'm not very familiar with other trackers, but I'm sure there are similar redirect functions.
Concerning spying tools, affiliates can definitely use them to mimic your campaigns but I don't believe it should have such a dramatic effect on your campaigns as you are describing..
And if that is the situation, it's really up to you to optimize your ads, creatives and placements regularly to stay a couple of steps ahead of these guys.
There are countless other reasons your campaigns could have been affected in such a dramatic way, besides the ones you are concerned about.
You mentioned that you changed bids for all placements, it's pretty common that campaigns go south when you change bids dramatically, for example scaling to aggressively.
Another common reason is that you simply haven't updated your creatives and offers for a while, and they are just drying out
Spytools can be pretty annoying, but they are part of the biz and not going anywhere ... so instead of trying to fight them, learn how to use them too. There is no way to hide from them completely, so focus on scaling and improving ... that's a better use of your time.
Very often, the problem that you are describing is related to a competitor bidding more than you are, or a fast burnout of your creatives that happen in some niches. When this happens, refresh your creatives ... even small changes can do the job many times. Also check your bids, consider raising them ... in case you know some of the sites that you were buying traffic from, try to check them out and see how deep in the chain your ads are (refresh a couple times).
A competitor stealing your funnel can kill your campaign indeed, but only if they put it up on the same placements and bid more than you. If someone takes you funnel but uses them on different sites/sources ... it will eventually get into conflict with your own campaigns, as more and more people start to copy it from each other, but it takes way longer time than a couple days.
