Lander vs DL Set Up On Voluum
Hi,
I would really appreciate some help to make sure I have done this right.
I just set up a direct link offer on Voluum. I added a lander to the lander bit.
On the landing page I have added the Voluum tracking for the direct link offer I set up.
Now next I want to set up a campaign which tests the direct link offer against the landing page with the same code on. So from what I can see under new campaign I select path 1 and do offer (direct link) and then add path 2 and select lander (which has the direct link code on it) and select same direct link offer in path 1 (as it is telling me I need to select an offer too) and then weight them 50/50. Is that it? Just want to make sure that it is set up properly, as am ready to start testing landers.
It seems really straight forward but it is a lot of information for my head so I don't know if I am right or not.
Thank you!

On the landing page I have added the
Voluum tracking for the direct link offer I set up.
I'm not quite sure what you mean by "
Voluum tracking for the direct link offer" but let me break down the details for you
Every single offer you are going to rotate and track through Voluum should be configured on offers tab where you setup S2S tracking tokens in order for them to fire the conversion back, once the visitor has converted on the offer he landed.
So when setting up direct link campaigns, we create a new campaign in voluum where we just add the offers we want to add to that campaign and send traffic to that campaign from the selected traffic source through the campaing link generated from the tracker.
Traffic Flow:
Traffic source - Campaign Link - Offer
When we are adding landers to our campaing, on each of our landers we add the click link that we find on Settings. Example:
http://your_Voluum_dedicated_domain.com/click
Once our landers are already setup, we add them to the path of our campaing.
Traffic Flow:
Traffic source - Campaign Link - Lander - Offer
If you want to split test an offer with and without a lander in the same campaign, simply create two paths for your campaing where one direct links your offer and the other has a landing page before your offer.
In my opinion sending traffic to an offer without a lander won't help you too much in the optimization process.

Thank you - I think you have confirmed what I wrote as right
Voluum tracking for direct link offer - basically I meant the button on my landing page is the same url as the one that Voluum makes for the offer when setting up a direct link. I hope that makes sense.
So you don't think you should test a lander against a direct link to begin with just to see if the lander performs better than the direct link? I am not ripping landers, just making my own based on what I have read on several forums and then wanting to see how they perform via testing. Some comments I have read suggested that it is good to initially test against direct link to see if it performs better than a direct link, then if it does you can replace link with another lander? Or should I just go whole hog only do landers and do 5-10 at a time?
Thank you for the help.

I don't think you have this part right. EVERY landing page that you are going to use in campaigns that you are tracking with voluum, must have all CTA buttons linked to the CLICK url : you can find it in the setup section of voluum. It looks like
www.customdomain.com/click ... this way, you can use the same LP in many voluum campaigns, because you configure the offers for each campaign separately and voluum automaticaly sends the traffic to offers that are configured for the particular campaigns.
When using the direct link option, voluum doesn't use any LP and redirects the traffic straight to the offer that you configured for the campaign. Other than that, you got it right ... make a campaign with 2 paths, select directlink for one and add LP for the second one ... and keep the same weight for both in order to reach even distribution.

Matuloo has already covered the details on direct link offers
As for when it comes to testing Landers vs. Direct link chances are landers will win in the long term since they will cover the pre-sale of the offer you're promoting.
Consider it like this:
You enter an electronic store and you want to buy a 50" curved LED TV. The sales person is a good looking girl, who's self-confident on every word she takes out of her lips while maintaining a high-level eye contact with you. She tells you will pay for Hisense HTV50C4K around 35% less compared to Samsung SAM50C4K and it has X, Y and Z features more, not to mention their proprietary inverter technology which will give you 40% less energy consumption compared to Samsung or any other brand.
As a customer, you don't know that the sales person will get a higher commission for selling Hisense over Samsung.
On top of that, if you haven't done any research before approaching the electronics store and you already have the budget to purchase the new TV, I believe you would chose Hisense over Samsung.
That is pretty much the effect of the landing page on the visitor's eye, so it's up to you if you'd like to go with Landers or DL.

Ahh I see now thank you - the click url is under the set up bit. Thank you I knew I was missing something.
All set up and working nicely
