Possible Reasons Why FB Rejects Your Ads or Bans Your Account.
As a FB mediabuyer, mostly BH, you are often frustrated by the fact Mark and his team disturbing the road to become filthy rich. Once in a while topics pop up on the forum people asking why ads getting disapproved or accounts getting banned. Since this topic is kinda taboo, hereby a list of common reasons why you are getting caught by this advertising beast, without getting too specific.
Possible reasons why ads getting disapproved;
- too many spammy words (win, free, euro, money, earn)
- too specific targeting words (are you 30+ and a mechanic? have diabetes and female?)
- image use (mostly related to sex, too much skin, objects look like etc...)
- flagged domains, link to bad/abusive lander etc
- usage of copywrited material (images/videos) / brand infringement
- images that make users feel negatively about themselves - such as images of overweight people
- before+after pictures
Poor ad experience;
- Not original/substantial content
- lots of ads on the landing page
- pop up stuff, or other/similar features which "disrupt" the lander
- high bouncerate/low read rate (short landers with little info)
- sexual/shocking/sensational content
- misleading
- ad serves as a tease to click and read whole story on lander
Possible reasons why accounts getting banned;
- running campaigns which are not allowed (nutra, sweeps, casino, binary etc)
- running campaigns with touchy subjects like religion, sex, politics etc
- running campaigns with cloaking / running campaigns without cloaking ;-)
- unusual or flagged payment method (vcc's in general, already used/banned cc, cc's not matching name/adress)
- running ads on (badly) farmed accounts
- unusual ip usage / entering your account in high risk countries (russia for example)
- using VPN's to enter your account
- having multiple/more than 1 accounts attached to one e-mail adress
- inconsistent / extreme fluctuations on ad spend
- created lots of ads which were rejected
- mass creation of ads in short time
- exceeding activitity regarding adding friends, joining groups, posting, liking etc
- too much negative feedback in comments (=bad user experience)
- using PayPal to pay for any reasonable volume, which for FB seems to be anything near 3 figures in a couple of days

17. Grammar and profanity

Adverts must not contain "before-and-after" images or images that contain unexpected or unlikely results. Adverts for health, fitness or weight loss products must be targeted to people aged 18 years or older.

Adverts must not promote payday loans, paycheck advances or any other short-term loan intended to cover someone's expenses until their next payday.
21. Multi-level marketing
Adverts promoting income opportunities must fully describe the associated product or business model, and must not promote business models offering quick compensation for little investment, including multi-level marketing opportunities.

Adverts may not promote penny auctions, bidding fee auctions or other similar business models.
23. Counterfeit documents
Adverts may not promote fake documents, such as counterfeit degrees, passports or immigration papers.
24. Low-quality or disruptive content
Adverts must not contain content leading to external landing pages that provide an unexpected or disruptive experience. This includes misleading advert positioning, such as overly sensationalised headlines, and leading people to landing pages that contain minimal original content and a majority of unrelated or low-quality advert content.

25. Spyware or malware
Adverts must not contain spyware, malware or any software that results in an unexpected or deceptive experience. This includes links to sites containing these products.
26. Automatic animation
Ads must not contain audio or flash animation that plays automatically without a person interacting with it or expands within Facebook after someone clicks on the advert.
27. Unauthorised streaming devices
Adverts must not promote products or items that facilitate or encourage unauthorised access to digital media.
28. Circumventing Systems
Ads must not use tactics intended to circumvent our ad review process or other enforcement systems. This includes techniques that attempt to disguise the ad's content or destination page.

5. Restricted Content
1. Alcohol
Adverts that promote or reference alcohol must comply with all applicable local laws, required or established industry codes, guidelines, licences and approvals, and include age and country targeting criteria consistent with Facebook's targeting guidelines and applicable local laws. Note that adverts promoting or referencing alcohol are prohibited in some countries, including, but not limited to: Afghanistan, Brunei, Bangladesh, Egypt, Gambia, Kuwait, Libya, Norway, Pakistan, Russia, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, United Arab Emirates and Yemen.

2. Dating

3. Real money gambling
Adverts that promote or facilitate online real money gambling, real money games of skill or real money lotteries, including online real money casinos, sport books, bingo or poker, are only allowed with prior written permission. 4. Regional lotteries
Lotteries run by government entities may advertise on Facebook, provided that the adverts are targeted in accordance with the applicable law in the jurisdiction in which the adverts will be served and only target people in the jurisdiction in which the lottery is available.

5. Online pharmacies
Adverts must not promote the sale of prescription pharmaceuticals. Adverts for online and offline pharmacies are only permitted with prior written permission.
6. Supplements
Adverts that promote acceptable dietary and herbal supplements may only target people who are at least 18 years of age.

Adverts for subscription services or that promote products or services that include negative options, automatic renewal, free-to-pay conversion billing products or mobile marketing are subject to our subscription services requirements.

8. Financial services
Adverts promoting credit card applications or financial services with accredited institutions must clearly provide sufficient disclosure regarding associated fees, including APR percentages transaction fees, on the advert's landing page. Adverts promoting loans or insurance services must not directly request the person to input financial information, including credit card information.
9. Branded content
Adverts promoting branded content must tag the featured third-party product, brand or business partner using the branded content tool. Branded content within adverts is defined as a creator or publisher's content that features or is influenced by a business partner for an exchange of value. 10. Student loans services
Adverts promoting student loans services must be targeted to people aged 18 years or older. Adverts must not promote misleading or deceptive services related to student loan consolidation, cancellation or refinancing.
6. Video adverts
Video adverts and other dynamic advert types must comply to all of the rules listed in these Advertising Policies, including the Community Standards, as well as the policies below:
1. Disruptive content
Videos and other similar advert types must not use overly disruptive tactics, such as flashing screens.
2. Entertainment-related restrictions
Adverts for film trailers, TV programmes, video game trailers and other similar content intended for mature audiences are only allowed with prior written permission from Facebook and must target people who are aged 18 years or older. Excessive depictions of the following content within these adverts are not allowed:
1. Drug and alcohol use
2. Adult content
3. Profanity
4. Violence and gore
7. Targeting
1. You must not use targeting options to discriminate against, harass, provoke or disparage users, or to engage in predatory advertising practices.
2. If you target your adverts to Custom Audiences, you must comply with the applicable terms when creating an audience.
8. Positioning
1. Relevance
All advert components, including any text, images or other media, must be relevant and appropriate to the product or service being offered and the audience viewing the advert.
2. Accuracy
Adverts must clearly represent the company, product, service or brand that is being advertised.
3. Related landing pages
The products and services promoted in an advert's text must match those promoted on the landing page, and the destination site must not offer or link to any prohibited product or service.
9. Text in images
Our policies previously prohibited adverts with text that covered more than 20% of an advert's image. We've recently implemented a new solution that allows adverts with a text amount of greater than 20% to run, but with reduced delivery or no delivery. 10. Lead adverts
Advertisers must not create lead adverts questions to request the following types of information without our prior written permission.
1. Account numbers
Adverts must not request account numbers, including frequent flyer numbers, loyalty card numbers or cable or telephone account numbers, without our prior permission.
2. Criminal history
Adverts must not request information regarding criminal or arrest history without our prior permission.

11. Use of our brand assets
1. Brand endorsement
Adverts must not imply a Facebook or Instagram endorsement or partnership of any kind, or an endorsement by any other Facebook company.
2. Facebook's brands
Adverts linking to Facebook or Instagram-branded content (including Pages, groups, events or sites that use Facebook Login) may make limited reference to "Facebook" or "Instagram" in advert text for the purpose of clarifying the destination of the advert.

3. Copyrights and trademarks
All other adverts and landing pages must not use our copyrights, trademarks or any confusingly similar marks, except as expressly permitted by our Brand Usage Guidelines or the Instagram Brand Guidelines, or with our prior written permission.
12. Data use restrictions
1. Ensure that any advert data collected, received or derived from your Facebook or Instagram advert ("Facebook advertising data") is only shared with someone acting on your behalf, such as your service provider. You are responsible for ensuring that your service providers protect any Facebook advertising data or any other information obtained from us, limit their use of all of this information, and keep it confidential and secure.
2. Don't use Facebook advertising data for any purpose (including retargeting, commingling data across multiple advertisers' campaigns or allowing piggybacking or redirecting with tags), except on an aggregate and anonymous basis (unless authorised by Facebook) and only to assess the performance and effectiveness of your Facebook advertising campaigns.
3. Don't use Facebook advertising data, including the targeting criteria for your advert, to build, append to, edit, influence or augment user profiles, including profiles associated with any mobile device identifier or other unique identifiers that identify any particular user, browser, computer or device.
4. Don't transfer any Facebook advertising data (including anonymous, aggregate or derived data) to any advertising network, advert exchange, data broker or other advertising or monetisation-related service.

This won't get you outright banned but almost certainly suspended - using PayPal to pay for any reasonable volume, which for FB seems to be anything near 3 figures in a couple of days.
If you are not doing anything shady, you will get your account back but good luck on paying with PayPal ever again.

Another common cause: Insufficient account warmup.
Normal user activities + posts that get lots of social signals (shares+comments+likes) will earn trust. For the latter, aim for a relevance score of 9/10.

Thanks for this. Just about to launch my first campaign and have chosen FB and sweepstakes. I dont want to get myself banned on the first go! So are sweepstakes actually banned on FB? My AM just recommended one for FB traffic. I'm a bit confused, thanks in advance.

If you are afraid of a ban, move to 100% whitehat. BH, with or without cloaking is a guarantee for a ban. Could be within 1 day, or 1 week, or 1 year. Depending on how agressive you go, how you spend, the reputation of your account(s) etc etc..

With regards to bad user experience, how many "Hide Posts" and "Mark As Spam" will be a good % or number to determine when to stop running your ad?
When I say stop running your ad, I mean either
- go less aggressive
- create new ad
to prevent fb from banning your account, even if it were a whitehat offer, but too many complaints?

There is no real guide on this, first because it's a better of testing and find the right balance (mainly act as natural as possible, on the personal account but also on spend). Second, STM is not the forum where these kind of things are being discussed in-depth. Try BlackHatWorld for example.

How about Amex cards. Are they still banning bin number of the cards? I’ve been facing this issue lately they ban my payment method even tho is a new additional card

If you wanna use fb ad accounts for long, use good farmed accounts. New accounts with newly added card and high spending have high chances of getting banned.
Mainstream "account saving" methods are too much abused so try less abused methods like less known VCCs, MultiloginApp for account farming, better cloaking etc.

How do large ad buyers pay for traffic with virtual cards? It seems like it would be the major restriction. It's relatively easy to farm accounts or buy them, but payments seem to be the bottleneck.

There is re-loadable virtual cards available (you can add funds as per your needs) in the market so go find 'em.
