Aliexpress reaches more and more people with their site and app.
In The Netherlands, it reaches 29% of the people who are online. Which is a lot and places it as the 26th most visited site in The Netherlands. The app is popular as well.
What does this mean for ecommerce?
IMO:
- If you are sourcing the most popular products on Aliexpress, it's easy for people to find it themselves for a lot less
- If you're not using your own pictures, you're at risk
- People might get used to long shipping times, if they can get it cheap
This doesn't mean dropshipping is dead, but it does mean that you need to look beyond the opportunities you see now.
Build up volume and an audience now, move towards your own brand at the same time. You should become the go-to site for your audience - whatever you are selling.
Source (Dutch only)
That still means 71% doesn't know Aliexpress = huge opportunity (for now)!
I've noticed the same thing, the AliExpress App has skyrocketed in rankings (In the Dutch Apple AppStore) the past few weeks.
Drop shipping is probably not viable anymore soon, at least not in countries like the Netherlands where people can find the same product for much less themselves.
@pekadis That's our long term strategy
Test products - find audiences - create brand for fulfilling their needs
We have a live product in Netherlands right now, doing pretty good, but maybe because product is not very popular on Ali so people probably didn't see it.
