Ten recent Google algorithm changes
Just read this from Google and thought it would be useful to share. It was posted yesterday:
http://insidesearch.blogspot.com/201...m-changes.html
Note though:
If you’re a site owner, before you go wild tuning your anchor text or thinking about your web presence for Icelandic users, please remember that this is only a sampling of the hundreds of changes we make to our search algorithms in a given year
In summary:
* more foreign languages will feature Google translated titles of english relavant queries.
* Better page titles in search results by de-duplicating boilerplate anchors (now what does this actually mean?
*
rich snippets for applications (hmmm -> apps rich snippets + pay per install anyone?)
* "we decided to retire a signal in Image Search related to images that had references from multiple documents on the web."
*
Improved rankings for recent results
* official website will get even more emphasis and rank higher. Exact keyword match and ranking brand sites higher is something I have always related to this. Will be interesting to see whether exact match domains regain some lost ground
I particularly liked this comment:
We’ve decided to publish these descriptions in part because these specific changes are less susceptible to gaming.
I guess thats an invite then!!
The article also refers to this video which is a useful additions:
