What do you think about the travel category ?
Hello everyone ,
I would love to hear your professional opinion about the matter.
(and not a personal opinion to me - like to "go to action", this post can also be used by others - Leave my actions for myself ).
I would love to hear your opinion about the travel category :
1.What is your experience with this category ? (general - Opinion )
2.What are the difficulties in this category ?
3.What affiliate networks are recommended for this category ?
4.What kind of offers are recommended for this category ?
5.What traffic sources are recommended for this category ?
Thank you very much for your time guys ,
Yohai .

Almost always works on a CPS (cost per sale) basis. Overall, very competitive category. Low commissions on the highest volume products (e.g. flights). Higher commissions on hotels and packages. Usually subject to a lot of comparison shopping so a very likely outcome that your cookie will be overriden by someone else's even if they end up buying a product.

Hi there,
I used to be head of performance marketing at kayak.com (now full time affiliate marketeer). The most profitable products are hotel and packages. Best traffic source is search (AdWords & Bing) using long tail keywords. (Long tail keywords are those three and four keyword phrases which are very, very specific to whatever you are selling e.g. cheap motel santorini fira, cheap flights from athens to berlin).
Booking.com has an inhouse revenue share affiliate program and a CPA program with peerfly (I am not sure if it still exists)
Fare aggregators and metasearch engines like kayak or skyscanner have affiliate programs as well, managed by internal teams or through networks (Awin, Commission Junction and Tradedoubler)
Good luck!

STM ... Where you ask a question about affiliate marketing in travel, and
you get a reply a few minutes later from the ex head of performance marketing of one of the largest online travel companies in the world.
Just an awesome community.

im not sure about the
CPA program with peerfly , There is a affiliate program with booking.com , anyone can sign up - do you recommend it?
and what you think about what cmdel said : "

Is it that way in all the affiliate networks that you know?

Yes but you should work with more than one partners, depending on their branding efforts in each locale.

This is why I suggested to follow a strategy using long tail keywords, they tend to have
higher session roi. For me, long tail travel keywords are like good products if you are doing ecom/dropshipping. One of them (e.g. flights from destination -> to destination) can make you a lot of money.

Thank you very much for this helpful information - I really appreciate it.
I would be happy to hear from you a little more on the topic of
ecom/dropshipping in travel category
- or a link to something that explains it a bit more .

Why do you spam several threads that had their last post months ago or even more than a year?
Really man, but that behaviour alone would keep me away to do any biz with you.
