Hi all.. I've been following the Cookbook and been out looking for niches and sub-niches
How do you know if you've found a good niche?
It seems to have fit most of the categories in the Cookbook requirements (people are willing to spend... there's lots of products... audience is passionate)
But I can't target this itself in Facebook Audience, as there's no specific publications or search terms for this
And on google adwords keyword planner, I saw that the search volume per month is only about 1k
Are my 2 concerns a cause for alarm?
Have you tried testing with a few ads on an engagement campaign to see how successful Facebook is in reaching those people without any of your interest targeting? You will also see significant feedback on your ads through comments, and will be able to tell how much potential that has.
It might be somewhat more expensive but it follows Facebook's advice of not putting restrictions on the algorithm. Your scenario sounds like a plausible one to use this technique - Facebook algo makes targeting decisions even without any interest targeting from you, so they won't show your ads to what they deem an irrelevant audience.
Aside from that, consider building it like a funnel from related niches perhaps? If you have a dog product and for some reason you can't target dog lovers, find animal lovers and find the dog lovers within that group - for example.
Regarding search volume, is it per geo? Is it one term only or including related ones? Volume is slightly low overall but then again, that's how the niche audience is like - smaller than most.
Got it, thanks for both of your tips!
My next question is... how do you know which products and which geo to run on? I'm following the eCom cookbook but I don't know if I should run worldwide or is there a easier place for me to start.. like with reverse engineering certain specific geos with a higher chance of success?
I've been running a few popular products on geos like US, UK, CA, AU but no ATC or no sales
$5/day ATC campaign with my niche specific targeting, and my adcopy catered to the niche
This is not as straightforward as affiliate marketing where you can get top offers list and start the offer+geo from there
Basically ecom is like an open book where any product + any geo goes
