Hey guys,
I have been negotiating banner placements direct with blog owners.
I obviously want to track the performance of these banners, guest posts, etc via
I've been looking around on Google, but can't find any helpful info.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?
There has to be a tutorial on this somewhere online?
thanks in advance,
You can approach this in two ways with
1. Make a separate
2. Use custom variables and tag your voluum campaign links with them, so you know where the clicks are coming from.
In both cases, you need to tell the site owner to use unique voluum links in the links, otherwise it will get mixed up. Since I know that blog owners can be lazy, it will be a challenge
On top of that, since many use CMS systems like wordpress, that distributed widgets on a site-wide basis, it will be close to impossible to get accurate data - especially if you want it on a page level.
Another option would be to use your own ad server, define ad zones on their sites and serve your ads there... this would give you more flexibility and control over the campaigns... but an extra cost for the adserver.
Thanks for all the info @matuloo - i really want this set up properly from the start.
I was going to start another thread about ad servers today.
can you recommend an ad server?
Like matuloo suggested a campaign per site is likely going to be the way to go
- Look into using "flows" if each campaign is going to have the same landers and offers, this way you only need make updates once and it runs on all campaigns
- Pass a custom field for each placement on the site (e.g. leaderboard, sidebar) so you can drill down
- If you're buying multiple sites from one company, set each contact up as a traffic source so you can see an overall view of how it's doing
- You can manually update costs each day per campaign if needed
If you need an adserver I would suggest M3 - http://www.m3server.com/services/adserver
There is also an Avid AD server rep posting here on the forum, check some of his threads : https://stmforum.com/forum/showthrea...t-An-Ad-Server
