Product inspiration - examples and explanation

In ecommerce, the right product can make such a difference.

The approach then is often to copy what somebody else has. Nothing wrong with that, but unsustainable if that's all you do, because you're always behind.
It works a lot better when you more clearly define your market and be the first one to serve that market. Then copying can even be smarter than starting with an unproven concept.

This thread should not only serve to copy a concept 100%. It should also serve as inspiration.

Like in the case of the first example, covers. This is a concept that can work for a lot of different markets.

Again, if you do your research and get to know your target audience well, you can easily create a product for them.

Hope this helps in the quest to find a right product.

1. Ukje - covers for carseats and highseats for kids

see: ukje.nl or amazon Germany
background story (dutch):

Product started by a mother who wanted her babys highchair cover to match the rest of her interior.

Why I like it:

- Doesn't weigh much and easy to ship
- High margin product (reail prices between 30 to 50 euro)
- Unique (own design, brand etc)
- Can be sold on Amazon, own sites and through retail
- Product range can easily be expanded

Drawbacks:
- different countries have different brands / products / sizes requiring a different product
- lot of energy goes into product development

Hope you like the example and feel free to add your own examples so this thread can become a source of inspiration through a nice mix of products.
