After having a small victory with direct linking, I had a leap of faith into the real business - campaign with landers.
So I chose an offer that shows good stats in
I went ahead and ripped a lander from Adplexity that is supposed to be converting well, again, according to the stats.
And, because it is my first time running a campaign with a lander, I created another campaign with direct linking for comparison.
After spending $10 on each of them, I got no conversions. Here is the stat
Campaign with lander - 4519 visits - 66 clicks - 0 conversion;
Campaign with direct linking - 4250 visits - 0 clicks - 0 conversion.
Is this normal?
Thank you!
Unfortunately, this is all too normal.
1 lander isn't enough. Try to test at least 5.
Sweeps usually don't convert too well when direct-linked (unless it's an offer that has a lander - or what aff networks and advertisers call "pre-landers" - built-in). So next time no need to test direct-linking. But I understand your concern about whether or not you've set up your lander correctly. Actually, all you need to do to verify your setup, is look at your stats on your aff network - if the traffic IS indeed going to the right offer, AND the number of clicks between your aff network stats and tracker stats are similar (with up to 20% difference to account for clickloss), then your setup is correct.
Also - you probably won't want to JUST test ONE offer. Basically you want to test several landers and cut the inferior ones as they reach statistical significance, until you're down to the best lander - here's the process to use:

And in order to cut landers down to a winner, you need to generate conversions. And to generate enough conversions without breaking the bank, you need a decent offer.
So it's sort of a catch22 situation where you have neither a proven offer nor a proven lander. So what to do?
You can find a rough outline on how to test offers and landers, at the end of this post:

I have something easier which I'm writing up at the moment - but don't wait for me. Talk to your AMs to find at least 1-2 more offers to include in your initial testing, and rip and fix up at least 4 more landers. Then run some traffic and post some stats - we'll go from there. (And don't forget to check your aff network offer stats as I've suggested at the start of this post, to verify that your tracking set up is correct before spending further money on traffic.)

Thanks, Amy!
I was searching for information about cutting landers, and this post came up, and it was posted by me lol
Pretty funny.
