Hey guys, I've been running native offers for the past few months. I recently started running a new offer in a new niche (different than I've done before) and have finally hit the green.
I'm a week in and making a 20% ROI everyday. My targeting is super broad. Most devices, most browsers, many geos. I've cut out the targeting options that are obviously losing money. The ones that are left are all profiting, but a few are making a lot better ROI, between 50% and 70%.
My question is.. should I cut back my targeting to just what is making the most profit, or should I leave the broader targeting and keep cutting bad placements/websites/widgets as they come along. I'm only a week in so I'm sure there are plenty more cuts I can do in that area. So basically, keep it broad and keep testing creatives/placements, or fine tune my targeting?
If you are able to grab 20% for a long time without changing a damn thing I would let this one run. But it also depends on the budget and your cashflow ofcourse. I mean if you are quite short on cash then every 20% of 100 dollar is worth a thing ofcourse!
20% of 10k is a different story, because then 60% ROI vs 20% is a huge difference!
If you have more to spend and cashflow is alright I would let this one run, and next to that optimize ads and targeting to possibly find 100% and milk that one to the fullest.
Otherwise maybe duplicate the ads, and let the 50% + only run (which you know up front from your other ad set).
You will have to test it
If keeping just the best targets and then raising bids will get you more profits in total, then go for it. But cutting lower profit placements and ending up with lower volume which also translates to lower profits ... that doesn't make sense.
You can also break the campaign up into several whitelist campaigns ... and set bid levels according to their profitability - just keep in mind, this approach is not preferred by some networks, so your volume might suffer a bit.
I'm with stickup here, in case your cashflow allows it, keep everything that is profitable running ... I rarely pause anything that is green either.
