Affiliate Networks without Postback URL / How to use a tracker?

Hi,

There are a lot of affiliate networks out there which only support cookie based conversion tracking but no postback url tracking.

My Questions:

1) Am I right that I cannot use trackers like Voluum with them as the conversions can not be assigned to the click_id by the tracker?

2) Is the only way there to use the cookie based tracking and relying on the affiliate network reports with sub_ids in order to judge profitability?

3) Does it make sense to work with such networks at all? For example in Germany the 2 big ones "Affilinet" and "Zanox" seem to not support postback urls...

Thank You!

1) I believe Voluum etc and certainly Prosper202 allow you to either upload conversion reports via csv or manually via the interface. Prosper202 does both

2) Yes, use the cookie based system for tracking as much as possible automatically. But then manually upload conversions daily or whatever frequency works for you.

Depends on the system that they are using. I've seen some programs that didn't directly support postbacks, but they were able to record certain parameters for each click, so I just sent them the clickID in that parameter and then looked up the data in their conversion report ... next was manually uploading the conversion to the tracker as MrBaffoe suggested.

I've also seen networks who didn't openly support postback tracking, but upon a conversation they were able to implement it. Then there are networks who don't support postbacks, but can setup a pixel ...

Often, it's just about asking and they will find a solution. In case there isn't any solution, you just have to rely on the data that they supply you with, networks who are NOT used to work with media buyers, do not understand why we need accurate tracking.
