AWA 2017 [𝔹𝔸ℕ𝔾𝕂𝕆𝕂]! ...Here we go again

Hello, Bonjour, Hola, Namaste, Szia, SAIN BAINUU (Mongolian),

It's been a hectic few months on my end, who knew a conference business would be so challenging. We've been growing and making things the best we can, with no rest time... ever. Affiliate World Asia in 2015 was our very first, and just a few years later we have a whole separate company for the AWC conferences, with a team who works around the clock to make sure we're at the forefront of the best networking and content our industry can offer. Every year we like to make things better and try not to repeat anything unless it was awesome!

So I wanted to share what's been going on, and what you can expect at AWA 2017

First:
Where: Bangkok, Thailand
When: Dec 6-7, 2017

AWA is just around the corner. Early bird passes are flying (most ever), speaker announcements are underway and we haven’t even brought up the post-networking events yet!

Returning to the scene of the crime, this first-ever location for an Affiliate World – Bangkok! A well-oiled machine, expect everything you’ve experienced, and more. Speakers, exhibitors, overall production – if you haven’t been before, this will be without a doubt the best year yet to attend. We’re bringing it back to the Bangkok Convention Centre at Centara Grand (why mess with a good thing right?).

SPEAKERS

We got the legend, and data maestro:
ALEXANDER NIX (CEO, Cambridge Analytica)
- Mad Men to Math Men: The Power of Data in Advertising Campaigns

The best speaker to ever step foot on an AWA stage is coming back:
NEIL PATEL (Co-Founder, Crazy Egg & KISSmetrics)
- 7 Landing Page Hacks That'll Double Your Sales

JAMES VAN ELSWYK (Co-founder, Purple Leads)
- The “TICKLE” Method: How to legally manipulate major native platforms for MILLIONS in cheap clicks

MARK HOUNG (CEO, Mark Houng Inc.)
- The Affiliate Blueprint: Sourcing Products from China

RISHAN BHAGOWAT (Founder, Milky Way Media)
- What I Learned Coming out of Retirement at 24 to build an 8 Figure Performance Marketing Empire

SARAH BUNDY (CEO & Founder, All Inclusive Marketing)
- Essential International Growth Trends in Affiliate Marketing Today

MOHAMED ALI AGUEL (CEO, Digital Marketing Triumph)
- Diversification: Leveraging your skills into Ecommerce

Expect another 25+ sessions, this is by FAR the most speakers we've ever had at our shows. We'll be releasing more speakers/panels as the weeks go on

“I HAVEN’T GONE, WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?”

Have you ever attended an affiliate conference? Imagine everything you’ve experienced, tradeshow floors, exhibitors, speaker sessions, panels, Q&A’s, parties…but it’s put on by the very team that built STM. With the mindset of your peers and sparing no expense, the show will have better speakers, better exhibitors (traffic partners/networks/advertisers/etc.), better overall experience. The team leaves no detail unturned, and knowing what we would want at a conference, you’re in for a treat.

Everything is done with one goal in mind, for each individual attendee to leave the conference with realistic, actionable ways to increase their business, along with lasting relationships with some of the finest in our industry.

Don’t believe me? Check out last year’s here.

“WHAT KIND OF NETWORKING EVENTS WILL THERE BE?"

As always, there will be networking events. Many of them. They will taunt you each night:

Angel, Right Shoulder: “Tomorrow is a big day, you said you always wanted to see Neil Patel speak and your landing page is garbage. It's time to learn from a pro.”
Devil, Left Shoulder: “Who cares, buckets at Soi Cowboy are half off.”
Angel, Right Shoulder: “There are events every night, just wait until tomorrow at least.”
Devil, Left Shoulder: “Nope! Ladyboys are more important, I'm going to Soi Cowboy and Neil Patel isn't stopping me"

- Expect 1 event each night hosted by AWC, smaller events during the day to network with like-minded peers, and more events hosted by outside companies.

- As for the After-Afterparty, don’t fret, STM is crafting up another banger, keep in the loop on social and subscribe to the newsletter to be first in the know.

This is the most insane schedule ever around an affiliate conference!

Before it and after it - the insanity doesn't stop!

Mine too! Bring all the trannies! I mean, tranny traffic. And I'm totally going to fangirl the sh* out of Neil Patel!

I sadly won't be at AWA this year - have to focus hard on scaling the VR business. I'll miss it, a great deal.

For everyone going: enjoy, it'll be an amazing time. And if you're going for the first time I'm envious - BKK's a great city and the conference is like nothing else you've experienced in this industry.

3rd time and cant wait.
gonna take some time in the islands to relax before and coming Full power!!!!

hit me up if you are in the area and would like to meet.

@caurmen That's a shame, your stage presence will definitely be missed!

Last AWA was amazing, one of the best conferences I've been to hands down, not just AM either. Neil Patel was the stand out, so awesome to hear he'll be back, but probably more hyped about Alexander Nix's talk.

Good luck, if last year is anything to go by, you're gonna have to beat your way past the hoards of other fangirls.

We'll miss your presentations and intros for sure. VR business sounds great though!

I already went to AWE this year, how does AWA compare?

I couldn't make it to AWE but it seems they are ramping it up with every conference. Plenty of reasons to go even having gone to AWE I reckon:

But maybe someone who's been to both can help you out here more.

10-11-2017 09:47 AM #23 manu_adefy (Veteran Member)

I personally prefer AWA more - there's just something about the whole thing... Coming from cold Vienna to a very warm Bangkok, but still full of Xmas decorations, a lot of Asian based affiliates that don't attend AWE. The Bangkok chaos, which I don't want to live in, has its charm when visiting. It's a big change of pace, I like to do that once in a while and this conference fits perfectly for me.

Plus Thailand is just a very welcoming country in my experience. If you haven't been to Thailand before, this is a great opportunity to do so.

Great question, AWE and AWA are unique to eachother, but hold the same level of class, style and production that Affiliate World is known for.

As far as comparison, rolandb nailed it, each Affiliate World compounds on the last. That means more speakers, while keeping the same high quality content coming. Last Affiliate World Asia we had 20+ speakers, this year we will have 40+ people hit the stage. As it grows, that means more attendees each conference to network with and more exhibitors to do business with. Expect more exhibitors from Asia, as well as exhibitors that couldn't book quick enough to make it to Berlin, along with larger partners that attend regularly - there will be a solid variety for affiliates.

We have Blockchain World Conferences prior to Affiliate World Asia and Facebook Mastery Live sandwiched right after with STM Island for desert.

Manu is right on the location being a draw of it's own. Personally Bangkok is a favourite of mine. It'll be my 6th time back and each visit is better than the last. Although Berlin was ranked really well on most travelled cities in the world list, Bangkok has taken #1 spot for 2017.

I've tried searching for a linkedin group for networking purposes but I couldn't seem to find one. Does anyone know if there is a linkedin group out there?

You choose linkedin over STM for networking?

10-19-2017 10:34 AM #27 manu_adefy (Veteran Member)

There's no LinkedIn group for this that I know of and I doubt anyone will make it - what usually happens is that close to the date, there will be a few threads here for a few small side events, and then also a crowdsourced spreadsheet with all side-events (big and small).

No need for linked in! At the event, we provide quite a few networking events to meet other like-minded people, or people who focus on the same types of traffic as you (as this is usually the best connector of business). Also you're in Bangkok, everyone is friendly and open.

10-23-2017 07:40 AM #29 omrikos (Member)

When will you announce which affiliates are approved for STM Island? We need to make plans if we're not.

Also what exactly are the requirements?

10-23-2017 10:01 AM #30 caurmen (Administrator)

@pretiointeractive - in addition to the networking events Stackman's mentioned, the conference app is also good for networking - you can contact people and send messages through it.

The AWA video team is working on the videos already, but since it's a TON of material, it will take a while to sort through it and process all of them. The good news is, they will be available for free ... not sure if for the general public too, but STM members will get them for free for sure.

hi matuloo,

do you already know when the videos will be available? =)

Why? ( wat ik bedoelde) Why is AM sky rocketing compared to previous years?

I am seeing more companies giving up on AM and doing their own thing.

Zalando would be a good example.

Zalando is setting up a private network and stopped working with affiliate networks indeed. The fact they are doin inhouse must say something! Although a big reason they only want premium content pubs, not the couponcode guys who barely add anything to their sales.

Since it's such a hype and quite easy to start an affiliate network, yes loads are falling since they just rebroke campaigns and don't add anything.

On the other hand new publishers are popping everywhere and the established networks are growing and growing still. Mediaspend in general is growing big ofcourse, but that's no surprise.
