Newbie trying to make Pop work with Mobidea
Hey All !
I recently started Vortex's newbie tutorial and it was essential in learning how to set up a campaign and learn about all the things involved.
This is my first follow along for one of the campaigns that I started based on the tutorial.
I'm using Propeller Ads and one hot AV offer from Mobidea for Egypt with payout of 0.42
What I'm not sure about is when should I cut an offer! When to know if this offer is still viable or cut my losses an move onto another one.
My offers are converting at least once within 5X payout. So I'm approving my offers at first based on that KPI, But its hard to identify if I should keep running the offers and FOR HOW LONG!
Here are my numbers for this AV offer in Egypt:
Ads Dashboard:

Funnel Flux:

Zones Excluded:

Is that still a good campaign to keep running?
Ive cut down the zones that are causing losses so far but still ROI of the whole Offer is very low (spent:25$ and got 4 conversions with 0.42 Payout each)
What should I do in this case and why ?
Thanks !!

Hi!
I am such a big fan of Charles Ngo...maybe this blog posts can help you decide on your next move.
His process would usually start by optimizing the following first and the last on the list is blacklisting websites.
1) Offers
2) Angles
3) Landers/Headlines
Here are some articles that might help you on making your decision.
Before you cut, is it statistically significant?

Also have a look at caurmen's thread: When Should I Stop Running A Campaign Or An Offer?
vortex's threads related to cutting placements/banners are also very useful:

I would pause this camp - reason to be revealed below.
You've asked a very good question: How long should I run the camp? And how would I know which offer is good enough to keep it running?
Here's the short answer:
If your current offer+lander (or just offer if direct-linking) is making enough of the traffic profitable, then keep running and cutting out the unprofitable portions.
Otherwise, you'll need to either change your funnel and/or test different bids, or do both. (Or, of course, you could pause the camp and test something else - another geo, another traffic source...)
A classical newbie mistake is NOT confirming that you're able to make enough of the traffic profitable BEFORE doing massive cutting. When there's no diamond in the first place, digging up and throwing out all the rock and dirt will not help.
So - how do you gauge whether enough of the traffic is profitable?
After running traffic for some time (preferably at least 1-2+ days), drill down into your tracker stats to the various traffic segments - placements (aka publisher sites, target sites, zones), OSs, mobile carriers, devices, browsers, and any other relevant stats - and look for green traffic segments.
Estimate how much money your green traffic segments are making you per day, then ask yourself: Would this amount be worth my time in keeping the campaign running? Either way you answer, you know what to do.
Of course this is just a very rough outline. There are a million and half scenarios you could be looking at - and it takes experience to be able to say either "yes I think this campaign still has a good chance of becoming profitable" or "no I don't think this will likely bring enough profits for me to continue".
Finally - in your specific case - judging solely by your placement stats, all of your placements are in loss (even the ones that have converted), and the biggest placements have all spent over 2x payout in cost (which is the rule-of-thumb I personally use to cut placements).
I would say it looks really bleak - a pretty clear-cut case.
As a final check, I would drill down into the other traffic segments such as OS and carrier. If all/most of your conversions are coming from one OS or one carrier, with the other OSs/carriers zapping most of your budget away and not converting, then it would be worth it to pause those and run the camp some more. But that's the only possibility I could think of that would justify giving this camp another chance.
So - as was mentioned above - your options now would be to either 1)test more offers and landers to improve your funnel, 2)test different bids to see if your ROI improves, 3)try another geo (or a different set of targeting options in general) or traffic source, or 4)all/some of the above.
I wouldn't suggest to even test bids because at this point you're way too far from breaking even for bids to get you there. How many landers and offers have you tested so far? If your answer is "not too many", then I would recommend to start there.
Thanks for starting a follow-along! And looking forward to further discussions!
