Can you disable visit tracking in Voluum and is it advisable?

Hey, so I've been getting into some media buying recently. Before I only did free traffic. I've set up Voluum, launched some campaigns and since I have the basic plan I'm already over 100k events out of 1 mil. Since most of these events are visits, is it a good idea to not track them? Are there some crucial stats you won't see this way? Maybe there are situations where this is actually a good idea? Are visits that necessary? Also how does one go about not tracking visits?

Hey,

Even if there would be a reason for you to not track visits, they have the highest impact on Voluum's infrastructure, or at least equal to the events you want to leave. Voluum would have to process a visit and click to generate a ClickID, which in turn is necessary to generate a conversion.

That means that unless something escaped my thoughts, visits are pretty much necessary to track anything else, the way Voluum is set up. Hope it helps, let me know what you think. Maybe someone from their team can jump in and confirm my thoughts here.

Hmm ok, thanks for the info. It just seems that if you are going to start running a decent amount of campaigns and testing stuff out, an upgrade to the higher plans is a must.

Yeah, certainly is a must but that is their goal. You pay more overall but you pay less per event.

You can stay on the basic plan if you use ZeroPark though, those events are all free last I checked.

Yup, Manu is right, ZP traffic is free to track via Voluum as it's the same company.

There are also more cost effective trackers, for example Adsbridge if you need a hosted version ... or consider trying a self hosted tracker like funnelflux, which is a fixed monthly payment and doesn't require a super powerful server in the testing phase.
