One of the network I'm working with - I've sent them some volume (about $70k in 3 months) but I don't really like my AM. I hate bad mouthing anyone, but I feel that he is extremely lazy and dumb. I want to take things to the next level and I just feel like I could get better.
I would simply switch networks but this particular network carries really good offers, so I want to try and make things work.
So is there a way to request a new/different affiliate manager without coming off as a dick? What's the right way to do this?
Moving brings with it a lot of office politics, as the affiliate managers typically rely on commission for a salary. In their mind, they brought you on and did the business development, so it would be crazy to loose you now you're scaling.
Personally, I'd reach out to the network order on Facebook and candidly share your concerns. They'll soon sort it out rather than loose you as a client
I typically find meeting the AM in person dramatically changes the relationship, so perhaps try and grab a beer at the next conference
It's business. If they aren't doing their job, and you have been explicit about what you need help, then ask for a new one.
It's not a dick move if you've done what you can on your end.
I've asked to change at least 3 affiliate managers over the years. Network managers will actually appreciate it in the end, as they keep your traffic instead of you jumping ship.
Make sure you politely make them aware that you need more help and if they either refuse to offer or are unable to, you have a simple case for asking for a new affiliate manager.
Some managers even consider trading affiliates in such spots - they find 2 similar ones and trade if both kind of want a new manager.
Hey!
I completely agree with Mr.Green.
A little input of an affiliate network - there should be no problem to assign another Affiliate Manager to you as long as you keep working with the same company. And as everyone is different, might be that your current AM is not dumb, you just don't understand each other. Might be that he has other affiliates getting along with him and making cash, so it's just a matter of matching. If he s not the one to take you to another level - you should request another one. It's a common case in all networks, I believe.
Good luck!
Hey
This is a normal situation, you really can just not understand each other.
And maybe you should say directly - hey dude, I think you're very busy, maybe you have any colleague who can replace you and give me more time?
If the network has good offers, then there are smart people who can also convert traffic well.
Good luck
Here's something I've done quite a few times for people as a favor whenever they complained to me that their AM was unresponsive: I would hook them up with my AM and tell them we were planning to run some camps together, so it would be better if we were under the same AM.
That way, the old AM isn't offended, and won't hold a grudge against the new AM for taking business away, and the goal is still accomplished.
So - for anyone that wants to get another AM, but don't want to explicitly complain to the aff network:
Ask your affiliate friends to see if anyone has a responsive AM, and see if they could do you this kind of favor.
Of course, AMs don't treat all affiliates equal. If you don't send traffic, then even the most-caring and hardest-working AM will start to ignore you after a while...
