PopAds vs. Voluum Cost Reporting???
Hi,
Popads reports cost way more than what Voluum is reporting for cost. Right now, I have Popads reporting a cost $100 more than what Voluum is reporting for this month, which makes the ROI in Voluum miscalculated.
Is this normal? If so, how do you deal with it?
Update: I investigated more, and saw that popads is showing double the amount of impressions than what's being shown in Voluum, so the clickloss is anywhere between 25-50%.
Any way to reduce this or point me to some resources to help?
Thanks

Hi,
Clickloss, especially for pop sources, is unavoidable. You should be able to lower it for PopAds specifically - your numbers look on the high side from my experience.
In terms of how to lower it - main answer is a better hosting solution, but even that can only take you so far. You should get better results as you start blocking more and more zones. The average, aside from a few exceptional geos, should be 15-25% clickloss. Thailand used to be with very high click loss regardless of everything else we tried.
Cheers,
Manu.

Hi gracieg,
I have noticed that as well. But I just end up updating the cost in Voluum to match.

If you want to have super accurate data there is only one way but it's time consuming.
That requires downloading cost data in CSV from the source and matching in Excel with revenue data.
Thats the best option so far.

Thanks Manu, the geo in question is actually Thailand so that might explain a lot.

TH can have a rather large click-loss, that's true. Where are you hosting your LPs?
Bbrocks method of cost tracking is really the only accurate one, you simply need to compare real costs with real revenue on a "per-placement" level. You can also calculate the average difference and inflate the cpc in
Voluum by this number. It's not gonna be 100% accurate, but it helps.

I'm hosting on LiquidWeb in Central US but have the option to change the servers to EU West so will probably do that.
And that's a good idea. Thanks!

If you have more hosting options, definitely compare their performance head to head ... also don't forget about the option to use a CDN.

This sounds like it (or at least parts) can be automated, maybe even with just excel macros?
