WeTorrent is a commercial solution, http based. The Send.Firefox is also http based, but with a simpler interface / ux.
Instant.io is a bittorrent type of file transfer - serverless transfer - P2P and secure, no limits, direct browser to browser via the WebRTC tech

Hmm, very interesting.

I wonder if Send will manage to persist if it gets popular. The running costs could mount up significantly.

Also good to see someone did something a bit more durable than the initial tests with Bittorrent-over-WebRTC!

I have no idea why WebRTC based tech is not mainstream - found some cool use cases for it but still underground

WebRTC's used pretty extensively for chat applications - Discord's probably the best known example.

But for file transfers it doesn't seem to have taken off. Not sure why.
